Is there anything keto friendly at movie theatres other than pickles and beef jerky?
Keto friendly movie theatre snacks?
If YOU go to the theater, more than likely, YOU are the only thing that is KETO friendly. Like others have said, take a big bag in with you!!!
Pecans, macadamia nuts. Olives, cheese, salami or pepperoni. BYOB=Bring Your Own Bag.
Hey @lilmestydaze /Casey,
this topic
Only keto friendly thing already sold at the cinema here: water!
After that, Ive found that there are two approaches you can take for delicious traditional cinema snacks: convenience or movie-theatre authenticity.
If your priority is convenience, then the BYOBag suggestions already listed on the tread are excellent. With that, you can also bring cream and coconut oil in a little jar to add to a black coffee, or however you take your BPCs
On the other hand, if your priority is munching on typical movie theatre snacks then⌠tadaaaaa⌠there are really simple recipes out there for fatbombs that are keto versions of
- peanut butter cups
- peppermint patties/junior mints
- chocolate covered nuts (in this case, macademia nuts dipped in melted sugar free chocolate and set to harden in th freezer or fridge)
Discovering these was the highlight of my first Keto weeks when i was still badly craving my old junk food habits
More hassle, but at least we have options! And we can portion-control before we even leave the house.
Hope thatâs some help - enjoy the film!
PS - have other Ketoers found keto replacement recipes for other traditional sinema snacks? Thanks
I bring cheese crisps, bacon, pecans, macadamia nuts. Itâs not snacks though, itâs my lunch! Also my theater has a Starbucks so I get a coffee or tea.
and use some Swerve, cinnamon and bakers chocolate for a sweet treat.
Of all the carbs I miss, popcorn is at the top of my list. How bad is it to occasionally have a small serving with real butter? small = like 2 cups.
A ketogenic diet does not require that you give up foods you love. It doesnât require abstinence from any food. You may need to modify, moderate, or compensate to maintain a state of ketosis. Or, you may choose to come out of ketosis on occasion. The reason for being healthy is to enjoy life, diet/WOE shouldnât cause angst.
If I were going to the movies, Iâd have the theaterâs popcorn laden with (probably trans fat pseudo) butter and wash it down with a sugary pop. Itâs an essential part of enjoying the movie theater experience for me, and a rare occasion. Would it drive me out of ketosis? Maybe, maybe not, but I can get back within a day or two. Will it undo all the improvements and discipline Iâve had over the past months? Absolutely not.
As far as indulging in the real things now & then, Iâm such an addict I have to be a tee totaler or I would spiral down a carb hole so fast itâd cause a tornado. Thatâs how I got into this metabolically deranged condition, no thanks! Luckily thereâs plenty of salty fatty treats on the keto side of the fence
Awe @4dml I wish I could do just that, especially guzzle on a Pepsi (swoon).
Youâre lucky! Iâm one of the sugar addicts. If I indulged like that my sugar cravings would go through the roof. I had half an orange last week and was craving sugar SO badly immediately afterwards and for the rest of the day Just half an orange!!
Made me so miserable.
One of the best gifts Keto has given me in my brief 8 weeks of it, is kicking sugar and no longer being owned by sugar cravings.
So my cinema jaunts will still involve keto prep the night before. Namely sugar free âPeppermint Pattyâ fat bomb concoctions made of coconut oil, peppermint essence, and caoco powder etc. âŚand I just have to stare with fond memories at the ârealâ sweets and that glorious addictive Pepsi dispenser on my way past it Theyâre the equivilant of a âbad boyâ ex from the past who you couldnt get enough of but was really bad for you!
KCKO
What is the âMoon Cheeseâ of which Iâve been hearing whispers?
