KETO Flu starts after a month?

(Rose) #1

Hi all! New here and just started Keto July 30th (one month Monday). I never seemed to get the Keto Flu in the beginning (though I was tired off and on occasionally, but that’s been my life for years so…) but now, after a month, I am feeling exhausted. I’m 48, 5’7" SW 248 CW 230,. Ketone (blood) levels no lower than .8 but almost always around 1 - 2. I add salt to most things. I am taking a multivitamin (I know… I may be wasting my money but just in case). I felt like I was eating enough nuts (1 serving 1-2 times per week) and other high magnesium foods? Keeping carbs at 14g to 20g. Calories at between 1100 and 1500. Am I not eating enough? My Carb Manager said to keep calories at 1100 (I thought it sounded kind of low) in order to lose 2lbs per week. I’m losing more like 4-5 even eating more calories. I’ve never “cheated” and have been in ketosis consistently for 1 month. I’m sure I’m probably not “fat adapted” yet. I had a couple of weeks of energy and some insomnia but now I want to sleep a lot. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FYI: I’m in the US (California) and no one is sick in the family. No bugs currently going around the school.

Hi. You may not be eating enough. I am a little taller than you but about the same weight and eat about 2000 a day. When I plugged your info into ruled me it’s showing 1900+ at sedentary… So if you are active you world need more than that.

I would eat when you are hungry and do not restrict food at this point. You don’t want your body to think it’s starving.

I would maybe try some keto aide … It should help with the flu-ish symptoms.

Thank you. I did increase my calories. I was aiming for a 2lb loss per week and it gave me around 1200 calories. I thought that was low for my current size. Still on the plateau and still tired. I have no gallbladder and severe Gerd due to hiatal hernia so they put me on a PPI for long term and I tried going off but I can’t. I did for 1 Day and was in misery all night. SO i may not be absorbing nutrients very well :frowning: .

I also bought the salts, magnesium, and potassium. I am taking those now but I’m still pretty tired. I also bought several vitamins like omega 3, vitamin D and a whole food multi vitamin.
