Very thankful to have this forum to ask questions.
I have been on keto for a couple of months. Very up and down at first but better flow now.
I got a bad cough about 3 weeks in. Lasted 2 weeks, lost my voice. Free for a week then it came back again and I have it now for another 2 weeks. Having to whisper again.
I’m 43 and can usually kick this kind of thing pretty quick. The remedies that usually work quickly are not.
Any help much appreciated.
Keto flu for 4 weeks!?
You know I’ve wondered a bit about whether viruses are worse or not as bad on keto. I never felt like I had keto flu, but recently had back to back 4 day “colds”

Doesn’t sound like keto flu. Might be the regular flu, might be a cold. But whatever it is, it’s time to seek professional guidance. 4 weeks is too long to be sick without getting checked out.
You might be right. My Aunty has exactly the same thing as me at the moment, and she went to doc. He said it was viral and he couldn’t do anything and she needed to ride it out.
I didn’t have keto flu and don’t get colds. I take vitamins and eat tons of green vegetables. I used to get sick a little more frequently before dietary changes but generally have had a good immune system. I personally feel keto diet has improved my immune system but I follow a paleo/keto hybrid so high emphasis on quality of foods, nutrients and not just macros
Eating fat does not create a state of ketosis. You do not have to eat fat to be in ketosis. Lack of fuel (specifically blood glucose) causes ketosis. Since carbs are converted to glucose, lowering them helps create ketosis. Many can eat veggies and be in ketosis. Some can eat Paleo and be in ketosis. My sister can eat rice & beans and be in ketosis. Intermittent (and extended) fasting can cause ketosis.
You do not have to eat buckets of fat on a LCHF diet. Fat is only a caloric filler. Furthermore, it does not need to come from oil and grease. It can come from whole foods like nuts, seeds, olives, avocado, dairy and fatty protein sources.
I eat paleo without fruit and tubers. This was the foundation i used for eating healthy foods and not just macro micromanaging

I found some good info on internet. Another keto fan found that she got bad coughs when entering ketosis because her PH was very low. 6 in fact. Being this low makes you very prone to all the bugs going around. And specifically, sore throats!!
So I have been drinking alkaline water once again to up my PH. Seeing much improvement. Yay
