"Keto diet" has fruit, sweet potatoes, and low-fat cheese on it ?!?

I’d argue for keto for performance. But I guess it’s in the definition of performance.

Getting muscle mass to critical mass. And having that Greek god look. Which as far as I can tell, is the only thing it’s good for, a post workout photogenic body.

Or, and here is where I think performance should be measured. Being able to row from San Francisco to Hawaii and beat the world record holder by like a week? Eating a LC HF diet for those 40 some days?

I love that story, it was one of the earliest things I heard about when I started searching “LCHF.” As a result, I found Dr. Phinney. Low Carb Down Under followed soon after, and now I subscribe to at least two other low carb events. Dr. Phinney helped that couple design their diet for the trip.

Wow, big difference in those two posting.

However if it is cancer you are fighting, several of the keto drs. think fasting a lot is the best defense.

LOL - Yeh - most folks just don’t understand Keto very well at all. I have met
several, just like the one you mentioned, and I just have to laugh!

Yeah - when I’ve gotten into 2 (very brief) discussions recently where ppl wanted to tell me (warn me?) that Keto was bad for me, I was wondering “What version of Keto do they mean?”

They could have just about ANY idea/ version of keto in their head - who knows?!

Both times it was situations where I did NOT want to discuss my diet/ food choices, so I didn’t bother asking.

But I did have to smile later, thinking it could be ANYTHING they were mistakenly referring to - even a boiled egg and fruit and sweet potato diet

If you press them, you will find out they really know nothing about Keto. All you will get is some vague answer that they heard something on some show or read something somewhere that it damaged the kidneys or liver or gallbladder; or my favorite, they know someone who had one of those things damage while doing it. They actually know very little about the actual WOE.

Speaking of fruit, over the weekend my sister harvested a pineapple she had been growing and just fresh out of the garden not even chopped up yet it smelled heavenly. I went over and sniffed it after she cut it all up and of course it was even stronger. On my 3rd visit over to the counter where it was just laying open for anyone to ravage… I did take 1 little square that was about 1" x 1". Then I had a 2nd. OMG. I did stop at two, I swear it. It was so sweet it felt like I had 20g carbs just in those two tiny squares. It was ah-may-zing. It’s probably been years since I’ve had a pineapple at all (from the store), but from what I can remember, even organic store bought has absolutely nothing on fresh from the garden. :+1:

Shiiiiiit… that’s not the boiled egg diet that I did in 1993 to lose 15lbs in two weeks (and have never been able to do again). That was six hard boiled eggs a day and all the water, black coffee, or tea I could drink. I had to lose the weight fast so I could get promoted with my classmates as we graduated from our tech school in the Navy. It’s what my mom told me to do.

Well they say the military ain’t what it used to be (toughness), so maybe the boiled egg diet has also ‘tempered.’

Low fat keto…I like it!!! In theory, if your insulin is kept low, you WILL burn fat, so if you aren’t eating fat you’ll simply burn your body fat, instead of dietary fat…hmmmmmm….I LIKE it!!
