Keto Day #3 thru #6

(Shirley) #1

Part SV: After being back on Keto for only 2 whole days I decided, just out of curiosity, to step on the scale. When I was keto over a year ago I actually gained weight my first week. Well, this time I’ve actually gone down 4lbs! I know it’s just water weight at this point but it’s still very gratifying to see. :relaxed:

Part NSV: I’m enjoying how easily I’m managing to fall back into the Keto WOE even though it’s been a year and a month since I stopped my initial journey. I’m also pleased to find I’m experiencing no keto flu this time around.

Keep it up! What made you give up before?

I didn’t give up so much as choose to stop…my stop just ended up lasting way longer than intended. I started in Jan 2017 and stopped at the end of July 2017 and I was the only one in the household eating Keto, which worked well until a very unexpected financial setback happened and we were suddenly $1000 short in our usual budget for several months until it was sorted.
Once it was resolved I made several attempts to restart but I just had a really hard time getting back into the mindset I needed to be successful. I think the fact that my 14 year old daughter is doing it with me (she doesn’t need to lose weight, though I expect she’ll lose some just naturally, she just loves the food I get to eat lol) and a family member who was interested in learning more about keto really helped me be ready this time. I was sharing all kinds of keto info really got me pumped to get back to keto.

Interesting. It’s much easier to have keto partners in the same household or even have the whole household on board (some people just won’t be convinced). Fun to bounce recipe and other ideas off them and compete like Biggest Loser.

Great job, Shirley! The third time was the charm for me with keto (did it twice last year, didn’t stick with it), so I know what you mean. For me the third time was the one that came with finally feeling really committed to it. I feel like you learn valuable lessons each time though, so it’s great you’re back and putting that knowledge back into action!

Day one here! Ugh! Need to go back and read how to prepare!

(Shirley) #7

@tay I only prepared by doing an initial grocery shop…later this month I will start meal planning per week and then shopping for anything needed each week. I suck at meal prepping though but need to start so my daughter has something keto to take for lunch. lol

@grinch734 we’re a household of four and my hubby’s work often has him eating breakfast and lunch out but he’s happy with whatever I make for dinner. I’d love him to get fully on keto though because he has IBS and from what I’ve read a lot of people with it do much better once fully keto. His is very erratic though, one day he can eat something and be totally fine and the next day that same thing can totally set it off. But I don’t do any convincing because it has to be 100% choice. My older daughter is just doing it because she loves the keto food so she’s got a touch more carb leeway than I do. My littlest one for the longest time wouldn’t eat anything but meat as it was, she’s finally just starting to eat other foods but still super picky about her veggies. lol

Thanks @Callisto ! Yes, for sure lessons are learned each time.

Day 6 and I’m down another 3lbs! Only had one slip up so far too - had a really long exhausting day and was out late and the little Starbucks kiosk in our Safeway was closed as was pretty much everything else too so caved and got a small Ice Capp.

two words - purse bacon

:+1: great progress!!

(Shirley) #12

@Rajseth lol that is a great reminder! Actually, you’ve just reminded me that I need to remember that some fast food restaurants now offer all day breakfast and I can get a side of bacon from A&W (probably not cooked in keto-friendly oil but it’s better than an ice capp! lol).

(Raj Seth) #13

A&W. Canada? Uncle burger, lettuce wrap.

(Shirley) #14

Yes, Canada. And thank you!
