Okay ya’ll. My mom is bugging me about a Christmas list, and I figured I’d add a few cookbooks to the list. However, Amazon if flooded with junk cookbooks and people hopping on the Keto train trying to make a quick buck with shoddy work. What are you favorite cookbooks for the Keto diet?

Specifically, I’d love to get more crockpot recipes so a crockpot cookbook would be great. I generally pick up recipes online, but I wouldn’t mind cooking my way through a cookbook.

Sadly, I cannot recommend a crock pot book because I use regular online crock pot recipes and just switch up the ingredients to suit my lifestyle. Here’s an idea though if your mom wants to shop for you: how about a few good books on low carb? Here are some I love in no particular order:

The Obesity Code
The Great Cholesterol Myth
The Salt Fix
The Complete Guide to Fasting
The Paleo Cure
The Art and Science of Low Carb Living
The Alzheimer’s Antidote
The Big Fat Surprise

I love Carrie Brown’s cookbooks. The crockpot one was the first one I bought. There is an e-version or print. https://www.amazon.com/KETO-Crockpot-scrumptious-fat-burning-health-boosting/dp/1545091390/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1511903073&sr=8-2&keywords=carrie+brown+cookbooks

How complex are the recipes? Are there very many special ingredients or is everything pretty standard?

New book, awesome… I love her work https://www.amazon.com/Keto-Slow-Cooker-One-Pot-Meals/dp/1592337805/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

I think they are pretty standard. About the most unusual (to me) ingredient is konjac flour, used as a thickener. I ordered it from Amazon and as you only use a tiny amount, it will probably last a lifetime  Carrie is working on a cookbook for the Instant Pot, if that’s what you are looking into. She also has a podcast if you’re interested, the Ketovangelist Kitchen.

A recipe book for over $20, that only contains 40 recipes??? I think I will give that miss. I know people rave about some of her foods, but really, who came up with that pricing and it is only a paperback, not even a hardback.

To each his own, I suppose. I like the recipes and have had great success with each one I’ve tried. They are cheaper in e-versions if pricing is an issue. Yesterday I think they were about $6 each on a cyber monday deal for the ebooks.

Most of Nom-Nom Paleo’s meat recipes are or can be made keto. She has a lot of instantpot and slow cooker recipes. Enjoy!

I love Maria Emmerich’s recipes.
I try bloggers’ free recipes before I buy their books and hers deliver: each one I’ve tried was good, and most are great. My husband says if we ever meet her he will kiss her feet, lol.
Her recipes convinced me I could do this for life. I have five or six of her cookbooks, including her slow-cooker e-book (it’s good):
http://keto-adapted.com/product/the-art-of-healthy-eating-slow-cooker/
Of all her cookbooks, I use this one most often:
https://www.amazon.com/Ketogenic-Cookbook-Nutritious-Low-Carb-High-Fat-ebook/dp/B011CX8UZA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511930428&sr=8-1&keywords=Maria+Emmerich+keto+jimmy+Moore
It has all the basics that allow me to pretty much re-create keto versions of almost everything we like to eat.

I took a 3 ring binder and through my search on the internet have printed out a bunch of recipes, and am adding notes to them as I go along if I don’t like it, I will just rip it out and throw it away.

I use Mastercook as well, but I research doing the same as you. I like to add notes and have a print out so I can have it handy in the kitchen. If I like a recipe it goes into Mastercook, along with any notes I made of modifications for permanent storage, I use both the PC and web site.

Everything we have tried in The Paleo Slow Cooker by Arsy Vartanian has been amazing! She is not afraid of fat, but you will have to make substitutions for some of the higher carb recipes. The Crockpot Korean Beef has become our “go-to” for potlucks. We sub sweetener for the honey, add 1 Tlemon juice, and reduce the tamari by 1 T.
