Keto breath?

People get into varying levels of ketosis in a few days, but that’s entirely different from being “fat adapted”. You can fast for 48hr and show ketones: that’s kinda what they’re for. Fad adaptation and full-on ketosis can take MONTHS. But as I’m sure you’ve found, you can start getting the benefits long before that, so just stay the course, sister…

Oh definitely. My dentist says yesterday was the first time my gums were inflammation free in years. Blood pressure way down. Somethings working.

I wouldn’t worry too much. I never got ketone breath, and as far as I can tell my breath is fine even when I get the feeling in my mouth that tells me I’m ketotic. But people in this thread have metioned a number of things you might look into, if you think you’re not fat-adapted. A couple of things I’d like to suggest: I was just reading a thread in which Richard talks about too much protein inhibiting ketone production, so you might want to take a look at how much protein you are eating.

Secondly, a lot of people try to restrict their calories, whereas what works for me was to let my body’s satiety signal tell me when to stop eating. (On the other hand, I still crave carbohydrate, and sometimes I snack even when I’m not really hungry. It’s not helpful, even when the snacks are keto. Snacking raises insulin levels, just like a meal, and the whole idea of being in ketosis is to keep insulin at its healthy minimum.)

Not much protein. Today a couple of chicken wings and hamburger. No yoghurt or anything like that. One thing that interests me, is a few times over the years, when I was eating very little, I got a weird taste in my mouth/nose type smell. I don’t have allergies, and while it is not a pleasant sensation, the first time it happened on keto , it brought back good memories. I have assumed it is my sinuses, but you never know. Nothing metallic about it. My husband complained only once, but it turned out to be peanut butter breath. He cant stand the smell:rofl: So, I remain curious… And, I’m in week nine, and finally have an appetite. Hard not to snack, but I am working on bigger meals so I don’t get hungry in between. Sorry, rambling…
