I love naan and would love to whip up some of those up to make a Keto pizza. Anyone have a good recipe that actually tastes good, not like… Almond flour?
Keto bread/wrap ideas please
I make my Chaffle Pizzas for me and my husband. There are only egg and mozzarella cheese in the crust…no almond flour. I have never had Naan, so I can’t compare!
Chaffle’s are nothing like naan but are easy to make and could work just as well.
I’ve made these before, a few times.
But, for what you’re looking for you might be better off looking at keto flatbread recipes like this one -
Headbanger’s Kitchen also has a good naan recipe.
I’ve looked around and most have almond flour but I’ll check them out, thanks!
I use Mission Low Carb Tortillas for wraps, 6g net I believe. With recipes you can typically swap out almond flour for coconut but you also have to make up for the difference in moisture, sometime with water, sometime egg, depends on the recipe. Almond flour bloats the crap out of me so I do that a lot but the swap can act very differently with different recipes.
There is also these which are awesome and easy… but also time consuming to make. You can just use a bigger pan to go from tortilla to wrap. Make SURE it’s nonstick. No amount of spray will save you if it’s not!
Hey thanks for that, I have used those and they really can’t be beat. They are pliable and stay together when you wrap things. The one naan recipe I saw had 6 carbs anyway so maybe I’ll go back to those.
The only Naan bread recipe I’ve tried is from Headbanger’s Kitchen, which uses coconut flour:
I liked it, but I usually just use Chaffles or Joseph’s Lavash Bread, a flatbread similar to a low carb tortilla. I use the Lavash bread for cheese bread, pizza, nachos, “hot pockets”, and more. Most things I use it for take less than 5 minutes.
I know you’re looking for a bread like substitute but you also mentioned wraps. You can make a great BLT sandwich using romaine lettuce and no time needs to be spent making wraps. Just pile the mayo, bacon, and tomato in the lettuce leaf and top with another. Romaine is amazingly structurally strong and will support lots of fillings! It’s also a great meal for sharing with carb eaters. They can just make theirs with bread.
I tend to go the no cooking/baking route so anything already made that’s not full of unknown ingredients is a win win for me!
