Keto and food intolerances

#1

Hi all. I’m new to Keto. I was looking for a way to live healthier/lose weight like I’m sure a lot of other people. I’m having a rough go of it and looking for a little advice/resources to help me out. I’m trying to do Keto but I have food intolerances I’m battling. I can’t eat eggs, avocado, and apparently dairy as well. I knew about the eggs and avocado, but since starting Keto I’ve been getting a lot of fat from dairy products and my eczema is out of control. Is there a book or site anyone recommends that deals with doing this diet and being limited in my available fat sources? Maybe a book of recipes or something. I’m a little lost and don’t know where to look. Thanks in advance.

Other fatty meats, olive oil. Eggs are easy but if ya can’t, ya can’t. Lots of people skip dairy, but some enjoy goat milk, and cheeses.

What about coconut oil? Olive oil? Nut oils? You didn’t say, but based on your post I wonder if you are vegetarian. If not … Fatty meats are a great source. Chicken thighs with the skin on, or fried separately. Add oils or ghee to your veggies (ghee may not bother you like other dairy because casein is removed). Bacon is King! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for the posts y’all. I’m not vegetarian. I am eating meat but I wonder if I’m eating it too much. The stomach has not adjusted to the high levels of fat so well. Or I guess it could be the dairy. I’m currently eating fatty meats, using MTC and coconut oil. I’m in Ketosis I was just wondering where I might find more recipes that were allergy/intolerance friendly as I run out of ideas kinda quick. Thanks again.

I’ve started making my own ghee (clarified butter), and it’s definitely worth the trouble. Steak is excellent, but be sure to get the fattier cuts like ribeye, strip and prime rib. Skirt steak is good as well. Sirloin is too lean for me.

Something not intuitive to me was chicken white meat and turkey. I love the taste, but it’s a little too lean. Remember, fat is your friend.

Lots of good dairy free recipes in here

I think Maria Emmerick (sp?) also has a new dairy free keto cookbook.

Straight MCT oil can be rough for some people. Coconut oil fine, go figure…

Thanks y’all!

I have found most of my favorite recipe collections by googling for something specific - for example, “dairy free keto salad dressing” just brought up a few keto-paleo-healthy eating websites that I haven’t visited before, along with several that I visit regularly. Give it a try - there is SO MUCH out there!

Hi Shelley

I am kinda new too…just started before Christmas

But I can’t eat eggs so I feel your pain, I use coconut milk in my coffee get the full fat and put it in the fridge so that the fat solidifies. Shredded coconut, hemp heats, oils (olive, coconut) macadamia nuts, brazil nuts, full fat dressing

I don’t get a ton of fat from dairy, I will have a cheese stick here and there but most of my fat comes in my morning coffee…

I do the rocket fuel latte, coffee, 1tbsp MCT, 1tbsp Hemp Hearts, 1scoop collogen, 2tbsp coconut milk and 1tbsp of cacao butter. this yealds 39g
