Kellogg's loses court case. Judge ruling makes things worse

This BBC coverage of Kellogg’s defeat in court cracks me up.

I remember as a kid having puzzle books with pictures featuring lots of things that were wrong - and you had to spot them all. This article is a good illustration of such fun…

Here’s what I’ve found so far…

  • Fat and salt are treated as being as unhealthy as sugar.
  • Kellogg’s insists its sugary cereals are not as unhealthy as donuts and chocolate spreads.
  • UK govt claims that moving cereal boxes around the store shelves will save taxpayers many billions in national health care costs.
  • Gov’t delays allowing food companies to employ Buy-One-Get-One offers for another 12 months … because of “the cost of living crisis.”
  • Judge says Kellogg’s can’t include info on cereal nutrition when milk is added, because the cereal boxes don’t include instructions on how to pour milk into a bowl of cereal.
  • Judge agrees that Kellogg’s cereal can be part of a nutritious breakfast.
  • Kellogg’s claims: “By restricting the placement of items in supermarkets, people face less choice and potentially higher prices.”

Okay, what other silliness did I miss?

Money addiction madness pushing sugar addiction for profit, biz as usual. Great we are slowly moving away from sugar, took a while.

Simply WOW! The British government is telling supermarkets where to place stock on the shelves? And it is doing it on the basis of thinking a food is high in fat or salt???

And a High Court Judge is judging what is healthy for people and what isn’t???

World Gone Mad!

I think you got it all!

You would be shocked knowing about what the Hungarian government does (fixing certain prices. like gas)… I can’t comprehend it and I am living in this country…

About cereal: we apparently have taxes for that as they are unhealthy…
I personally still don’t get why people consider those things edible, never was a cereal person, to put it lightly. My SO said he saw cereal as a kid, I surely didn’t, I tried it out as an adult and wasn’t impressed (except the vanilla cream filled crunchy pillows). I really liked the crunchy salty corn things though (peanut flavored), they came in small bags and I ate it all at once (I don’t know how to eat things otherwise unless the package is huge or the food is super dense and rich. but that requires very much fat or a ton of spice…).

What? Well sure if I put in nutritious food items and then a tiny cereal, the whole breakfast will be nutritious. Otherwise I wouldn’t think so but it’s not like I know much about Kellogg’s products  It’s cereal so grain potentially with sugar?

I can’t even start to comprehend what it means. And less choice sounds awesome to me in very many cases.
