Your the best Pjam, I’ve never felt so welcomed before… this forum has such a wealth of good supportive human beings and I am really taken back by it,
Just started the 18:6 fasting
I’ve found the same. Fantastic pool of knowledge. Great patience from many here too.
Personally, I would cut the banana, muffins, substitute non-dairy milk for milk, and replace the mango with strawberries. Just my opinion.
I’ve personally never figured out alcohol and keto. Sometimes, a single drink hits me incredibly hard; other times, it’s like I haven’t had anything. Strange…
I had that on carbs… I suppose many factors are in play, I suspect even my mental state matter… Still, it was odd as the two extremes were very, very far from each other.
Maybe one day I can test these things on keto but how could I drink enough to feel it…? Maybe it won’t happen.
That is exactly what I ate, and after some time I was able to stop blood pressure meds and metformin because I had normalized. It’s hard to wrap your head around at first because all of us have been indoctrinated with the old cholesterol theories, but exactly the opposite happens when you eat fatty meats, including lots of healthy (look at nutrition contained in meats) beef, eggs, butter, bacon etc. Bacon and eggs are a staple here. And I don’t watch calories. I was very surprised when I started looking at nutritional content of meat, it can rival all the kale etc.
Basically, you need to add nutritional facts to your knowledge base, things we have never been told about.
As far as alcohol goes, I loved wine also. I started adding water, more and more water over time, and found I liked it. For the last couple of years, I have had a tall glass of lemon water with a shot of vodka while fixing dinner, and another with dinner. It’s refreshing and eventually makes me a bit tired, so I fall asleep easily. It’s exactly the right amount for me, you will find yours over time.
Not to mention that if you’re eating meat, you pretty much absorb whatever it has, and it’s typically in a more useful form. With vegetables like kale, you don’t know what you’ll absorb due to anti-nutrients, and even if you do get some of it, it’s less likely to be in a useful form.
Is kale nutritious? It’s just a veggie While meat is perfection or something. Okay, it depends which kind but it has everything we might need, allegedly…
(I admittedly know very little about nutrients in vegs. I just ate them for joy, same with fruits. I am aware about Mg in green things, about no nutrition in cucumber - it’s basically just solid water and I love it - and a few other things… But vegs are carbs with various other good and bad things, I can’t follow those.)
I just wanted to express how odd this sentence seemed to me. Of course meat is better, it’s proper food…
Hello everyone, I’ve been packing up our apartment for our move July 1st, busy busy.
I am happy to report that my weight is 204 lbs from 216 (May 30th)
Still doing the 18:6, it’s so easy now I was hoping to lose a little more weight in the 16 days but hey I am happy with losing 12 pounds and this is only the beginning.
I hope all of you are doing well, back to packing for me, I will check in soon
Hi there yeah 12lbs (5.5kg) that’s excellent! … just think how you could have added 12 lbs!
12 pounds off is awesome. Most of us hope for fast results, but it’s the slow and steady decline that is likelier to be maintained.
I’ve lost a lot of weight very quickly, too many times to count.
In my first year of keto, I lost 60 pounds. Impressive, yes?
But that’s only 5 pounds a month. I’ll take it.
Over the next couple of years I lost an additional 25-30. Slow going? Yep. But this is the first time I can say I am NOT on a diet, per se.
I’ve just learned how to eat and enjoy the food and benefits.
Smooth sailing.
SO…Congrats on your 12!
You got this!
Will drinking whiskey break a fast ? I ask because it has zero everything, like water ?
The alcohol has calories. Drink enough, and it will break your fast. Stick to water, or go back to eating and have your whiskey with dinner.
I just read that it has 69 calories for 100ml ? I don’t know how much that is but my eating window is from 10am-4pm I can get drunk at 4pm lol
Ok my small bottle is 200ml which contains 138 calories, not too bad but I guess enough to break a fast.
I don’t do this often but when I want it I’m gonna drink it
I don’t know friends, everybody is different; and that is true.
Seems to me a lot of people on here liked imbibing.
I think I was probably the worst for it.
It took a while, but I came out the arse end of it. I feel great now.
Never give up. Ever.
Cheers!
I personally would not fast every day. 3-4 times per week max. At age fifty, you want to protect your muscle mass at the very minimum and, ideally, build muscle. If you are fasting every day (caloric restriction), you will lose muscle mass in the long term. This is not good as you age. This is not fasting, it’s caloric restriction and will, in the long term, not give you the benefits of fasting.
-As Paul stated, eat your last meal hours before sleeping.
-Walking after every meal always worked and still does for me.
-I would eat a greater variety of food. Other green veggies, animal protein, etc.
-Not a big fan of smoothies. I would rather eat the food in an unaltered state. I find it more satisfying and satiating (physically and emotionally)
-Lose the 2 English muffins (Carbs 20-40grams per)
-Replace Magos with Blueberries (less sweet, less likely to crave sweats)
-Chick Peas are very high in Carbs (net carbs about 44grams per 2/3 cup)
-Water is absolutely non-negotiable.
-Bone broth is great, but you may get bored or cannot be bothered in making homemade. Store-bought is fine.
-Fermented Tea also works very well during fasting (Pu’erh). recommended by Dr. Fung.
Good Luck!
