Just started Keto

Hey guys,

My name is Njord and iv started going keto right now im neary 4 weeks in.

To start off im 27 years old eat faily healthy im a Pescetarian, very rarely eat fast food or instant meals.
and i weighed 75kg but i was expirencing terrible brain fog and even amnesia symtons. (keep forgetting things i have to get done and a the end of the week i had forgotten what i had done all week) At work i drink coffee all day trying to cure my brainfog even after 8 hours of good sleep.

My housemate was in keto for a few years and adviesed me to try it out, so i did.

The first week was annoying i was expirencing hunger eventhough i had just had food and i had to find good replacements for all my carbs but i found the anwsers online. For the rest iv been doing ok exept for the few exeptions iv been holding on to my diet. (its hard to say no to cake at work!)

But anyway last week i expirenced “ketos” for the first time!
I was advised to try fasting because its good for you and it helps to get in to keto and last week tuesday i was not really hungry so i dident eat till 11:30. (i expirenced 2x a short hunger spell that dissaperd after a few minutes )
But as i was drinking my second coffee of the day i realized that i was clear headed like i had not felt in ages!
It was as if i had drunk 10 coffees in one go! It was great!

Only downside is that im drinking water 24/7 and peeing alot more!

Only right now im expirencing lightheadedness and dizzyness anyone know if this will fade away? is this from ketosis or could it be something else? Or should i get my blood tested or something?

PS how important is it to test your ketoton levels? my housemate never does and says you dont need to?

Welcome, Njord!
It may be beneficial for you to up your intake of salt, to keep electrolytes in balance. Testing for ketones is recommended, so you can be really sure you are in ketosis.

Hi, its not important to test for ketones at all but some people like a visual indicator that they are on the right track.

As long as you keep your net carbs below 20g and your protein in moderation you should be fine.

I have lots of friends that have never tested their ketones, its a personal choice.

Good luck.
