Just love keto but!

I found keto because I really felt bad eating carbs. So, low carb I have been doing for years. Lower protein and increase fat and lose weight. Sounds like heaven. I also like a drop of vodka most evenings. Now this is my question. Am I doing myself harm by eating this way and not getting fat adapted ( because of alcohol ) and not losing any weight. Love the food and way of life.

I am 70 yrs old, weighing 210lb and 5ft 11".

Is this a literal “drop” of vodka? keto is def better than the alternative.

You can have a “drop”. If it causes you to be concerned about fat adaption and inhibits your progress, then rethink the “most evenings”.

“So, low carb I have been doing for years” Yes, but make sure they are low, very low.
“Am I doing myself harm by eating this way”, No.
“Lower protein and increase fat and lose weight”, No, Prioritize your protein, then eat fat if you wish. We need more protein as we age.
“I also like a drop of vodka most evenings” . ?. If it is a “drop” and it is something you enjoy and are not prepared to drop it. Then keto on. would be the best advice from a non medic, so to speak.

If you’re 70 years old and in decent health, keep doing what you’ve been doing because it’s obviously working for you. Your longevity at this point is probably determined more by your genetics than any lifestyle choices you implement going forward.

Most of us on this forum are trying to get where you are. I’d love to hear the thoughts of those over 70 here.

listen to 2 keto dudes podcast, theres one on alchol and There’s one where Carl
talks about how he would drink every night and it didn’t bother his insulin however there’s also a Podcast where him and his wife both stopped drinking and he gets off of his weight plateau. No sugar or carbs in a good distilled vodka.
