“Just a couple of squares of chocolate per day...” TRIGGER WARNING

(Mother of Puppies ) #1

Does anyone else have trouble with this? I can never have just a couple squares, unless it’s disgusting tasting.

I’ve been pounding one ENTIRE Ghirardelli Sea Salt Soirée bar a day for three weeks. I don’t even know how to stop.

I thought dark chocolate was safe. :joy::joy::joy:

Yeah there’s no way a bar gets opened and I don’t eat the whole lot. The chocolate I eat only has 8g carbs per bar but I limit myself to buying one a week now.

Lindt 96% I think. It’s dark enough I don’t want two squares.

I use Baker’s 100% for the same reason…one piece is plenty to feed the Jones for several days…and no one in my house or at work wants it, so it never disappears on me!

It is not safe.

We break a bar into squares and break the squares. Put them in a Tupperware in the closet.

I never eat a serving as defined on the bar. But I’m not a real chocoholic.

I eat 1/4 a day. Not sweet and not bitter. Just right.

#7

Where did you find this?
I’ve just been buying 100% baker’s chocolate. Usually a small square or two is enough for me.
Sometimes I like to top it with unsweetened peanut butter.

(Mike W.) #8

Trader Joe’s. I top mine with Butter.

I am so trying this!
Thanks Mike

Enjoy, my friend.

Pretty fancy; deconstructed cocoa butter

It is possible but if this is an issue to you my advice is two things:
1.) Get 100% dark chocolate, or as close as you possibly can.
2.) Keep the bars somewhere out of sight that you have to make an effort to get to. When you’re going to have some only separate the limited squares and put the bar back away. If you have the entire bar at arms reach, why expect yourself to not eat it?

(Duncan Kerridge) #13

In the house = at arms reach :grinning:

Simplest solution for me is to just not bring it into the house very often

I used to be a chocoholic but since on Keto I have stopped craving it! The first month I had one square of Lindt over 80% every day now the last bar has been lying in my fridge for two months! That is a miracle in itself!!

(Edith) #15

I think the problem is that the Sea Salt Soirée probably has more carbs than the 78% dark or higher. That could be why it’s hard to stop at one or two squares. Try the Lindt 85% dark. You may have more control with that.

(Mary) #16

21 gm carb per half bar…

(Vincent Hall) #17

Everyone’s different, I generally have two squares of 90% Lindt chocolate most days, it’s my way of saying that’s it end of eating for the day, but occasionally feel like and have 4. Four is definitely enough for me.
I recently found a 95% chocolate in France where I regularly work and two squares of that is my max.
Anything less than 85% tastes nothing like chocolate to me now I find. However, 100% is too much for me.
Each have their preference and limits, you just have to find them and work to them.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #18
  1. Buy Baker’s unsweetened chocolate

  2. Hide bar

  3. Go get bar

  4. Break off a piece

  5. Continue until all pieces are in a bowl

  6. Add heavy cream and sweetener

  7. Microwave until soft

  8. Mix and eat

  9. Tell yourself you’re only going to eat “just a little”

  10. Scrape the empty bowl and lick out any remaining residue

  11. Repeat

(Trish) #19

I find snacks…even keto snacks, are like gateway drugs. I think I’m better off avoiding them totally.

(Mike W.) #20

I incorporate it with a meal. No snacking = results
