July Keto Meals

(Jane) #1

I know… boring title LOL. I didn’t see a July thread so if I missed it, please merge.

“Lasagne” made with slices of zucchini from my garden instead of pasta and also onion, peppers and fresh basil from my garden. Homemade Italian sausage with no weird ingredients or sugar. Was yummy.

Thanks!

I used slices of mozzarella instead of grated, which is why it has such a smooth top and it was delicious.

:+1: I think that is the way to go. Especially versus pre-grated or shredded cheese which has cellulose added to it so it doesn’t stick together as much.

That ‘browned cheese’ is a thing of beauty.

Not a meal but a small movie snack while my family is destroying the giant caramel and cheese popcorn bag from Costco. Pork rinds, Mikes Keto Caramel sauce, toasted coconut and drizzled with some 80% cacao chocolate.

Tri Tip roast sous vide at 135 F for 24 hrs.

When I brought it home from the butcher I sea done it and then vacuum sealed and put in the freezer.

Thawed it out in the fridge and popped it into my sous vide bath yesterday.

Perfectly cooked, fork tender, pink in the middle. Hubby threw it on the grill for extra flavor.

Salad with tomatoes and onions from the garden, goat gouda cheese I made, and (not shown) homemade green goddess dressing (Chef John’s recipe).

Cilantro Lime Flank Steak
with Cilantro Lime Riced Cauliflower and Almonds

Those meals look delicious! I actually made keto broccoli and cheddar soup along with a keto meatloaf and some mashed cauliflower yesterday. It was amazing and pretty filling!

A few meals recently. I normally eat a lot more meat, but loving the salads in this hot weather. I do notice the lack of protein though… steak time is approaching…

So beautiful meals here! I always liked to look at colorful dishes even if I prefer eating more “boring” looking ones (it’s NOT boring for “hungry” me… actually I am never hungry nowadays, maybe a little but I usually just eat without even that as it’s still my wont). I always like to see meats too but the effect on me is different, less purely aesthetic

I still don’t have a proper lens for the camera to make photos (and the tablets never were so great. we own zero smartphones at the moment lol) and my food isn’t exciting anyway so I just come here to look!
I have those tiny tomatoes in my garden too now  And the big ones are coming!

I eat little meat since weeks (it starts to come back, finally… still lower than needed for a chance for carnivore) but of course, high protein. I can’t avoid that, I have tried many times, nope.

I had my birthday yesterday, we did nothing, the birthday meal will happen on Sunday. I will try to make steak, oh my, with my about zero experience… Well it’s meat, what could go possibly wrong? Probably ribeye, I only know the Hungarian name of the cut and googled and I think it is that. I tried to fry beef slices before but that wasn’t a proper steak cut and I don’t remember much, it was years ago…

I will do my best to cook pretty things for my birthday meal, I will bring photos then!

Thanks Zuzanna! I like to cook and find I eat more interesting and colourful food on keto. I’ve found it more enjoyable this time around not to worry about limiting vegetables at all (except potatoes) and I still seem to be getting the health benefits. Well I feel good anyway and I’m rarely hungry.

I agree that all the evidence seems to point to fasting being a very good thing! I’ve tried it once but it was a bit restrictive for me personally. Good luck with your own attempts.

Bit of a snacking success tonight - I was feeling exhausted, hormonal, very much wanting a treat - so after my dinner I warmed up some mixed nuts, drizzled with butter and sprinkled with salt and cinnamon, plus a big serving of warm berries and some unsweetened Greek yoghurt. All blobbed in together. It was totally delicious! Very much scratched the PMS-driven comfort food itch. There’s not much that melted butter doesn’t improve, it turns out
