I am the same S! too much negative flooding our lives is, well too darn much, and I almost hate to share my negative as I am a positive person but at some point I gotta let it all out and scream into the oblivion and deal. which I think we all have to do or we fail ourselves to ‘let it out’ and I feel bad chatting it out cause it can affect others in a sad way. ugh
KetoVore is a person one who eats very little carbs ever and might not eat carbs for days on end but is one of those who can up a tad and have a bit of fruit or veg when they deem fit but hold SO CLOSE to carnivore it literally made a new category of ‘lifestyle eating plan’ and I think you are that person…or I should say heading that way in that lifestyle and finding you on it. Ketovore is a very appealing lifestyle many wish they could have and if it is you embrace it!! Cause it might just be you!
While mostly we see ZC/Carnivore and ‘new’ KetoVore and we see LC eaters and see Keto Plan eaters, the key to it all is where ya fall and how well you do. If I could be KetoVore I would be, but sadly I can’t but if I could I would in a flash so…there ain’t nothing wrong with finding where ya fall but it never truly has to be in ‘some named’ lifestyle plan.
A change in my routine today, did my 100 stair runs and then waited for the guys to arrive to update my fascias and guttering. I have pottered about trying not to get in their way, altered a couple of tops for work, sat and read my book, did my BP graphs and more or less tried to fill my time whilst being on hand to assist when needed.
Had rumps steak and special butter for brunch and followed that a few hours later with some cold pork and a bit of cheddar.
The guys finished around 4.30pm (coming back tomorrow) and so I thought I would get a good walk in as the weather was so nice. Walked the 3 mile loop route in the nature reserve stopping to take some piccies and to chat to a lady who had do e up a derelict railway cottage. It looks beautiful now from the eyesore it had been for so long and she was lovely to chat to. Stopped at the retail parks on the way through to get some cold water prawns from Lidl and cheese from M,&S. When I got home my fitbit had registered I had been walking for 82 mins.! 20220708_193023|667x500
My favourite tree in the reserve, I have taken a few pics of this tree at different times of the day and year, it particularly beautiful just as the sun is setting but I was too early for that but still a nice pic.
2MAD 2 coffees. Bacon and eggs NoFUN. 2 baked lamb shanks from the cast iron oven on the wood fire. There is 63% in the battery storage. We may get an off-grid black out, if we’re not frugal. The house is warm. 40-minute walk in the wild winter wind. The physical activity improvement is logarithmic.
@Karen18
82 min. stroll If you ever get a chance to shoot a pic of the remodeled railway cottage I would love to see it, sounds so cute. You had a great stroll K and good eatin’!
@FrankoBear
hope ya get some bigger sun to recharge your battery bank!
---------------today I defrost some NY Strip steaks. I have 2 chicken breasts I have to use today before I might lose them so will see if family wants chicken and if not I am just gonna throw in pan and fry them up and I could eat them later.
keeping zc very simple. might get some big Tstorms. waiting to see how the rain goes today!
@Fangs haha I don’t know where i got 82 mins from it was actually 94! And yeah will absolutely take a photo when I next pass the railway cottage. Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of it as a derelict to show before and after… it isn’t twee though not like a little English cottage, they have added an extension to the back and I would guess it I quite modern and minimalistic inside. I am not usually a fan of modern deigns but I like the way they have renovated it from the outside (as I can’t see in lol)
I got about 7hrs in last night though it didn’t feel like it! Got up at 7am and did 100 stair runs, ran to CrossFit Box, did a crazy badass pairs workout and ran home. One of the girls asked if I wanted to pair up with her, I gulped and said yeah knowing she was a bit of a beast and thought eeek! Her usual partners choices were doing the 10am class as it was one of our coaches 8th anniversary of his heart attack in the very same wod! The fireman and paramedic came and joined in the workout to celebrate his recovery and he finished the wod this time so well done him. Anyway that was the session after ours and it was full. Well I was definitely working under pressure… we started with a 120cal bike ygig, she has long legs which are quite muscular, I have little short arse skinny legs lol, we did half each, then 100 cleans, she chose heavy I chose light to preserve a twitchy back, 80 burpees, split half n half and I can hold my own on those, 60 synchro kb swings, 40 wall walks, I can hold my own on those too and finished on 120cal Row, she pulls once per cal I pull twice and we beat the others including the men!!! The bike was the worst and Helen thought the wall walks were the worst lol.
Brunch was rump steak, small salmon fillet and cold water prawns.
Dinner was buffalo chicken wings which were hot hot hot! Follwed that with a few slices of the roast pork shoulder and 3 slices of med cheddar.
I have guzzler over 4 legs water. I emptied the 4ltr fridge water tank by 7.15pm and refilled it and have had another pint since. Also drank 2 coffees on return from CF this morning and a pot of earl grey tea with chilli’s… and yes I have also wee’d plenty it has been a hot day again. The guys finished the guttering and I have pottered in the garden, read some of Joyce and walked to Lidl with my daughter and then after watering and deadheading finally sat and did a couple of codewords before the sun dropped. Nice to have the garden looking tidy again after the guys ladders and tools everywhere and a number of the containers having to be shifted about to accommodate them.
Just when ya think things are getting better…
Dad seems to have ended up catching Mom’s Cdiff bug.
Mom is healed from her Cdiff bug, and her UTI,
but for the second time in barely 3 weeks she pulled her feeding tube out and they took her the ER. I had volunteered to spend tonight with her, so I just ended up at the ER instead. That’s all well and fine, but…
My oldest daughter had talked me into going strawberry picking with her, Saturday morning, and asked me to teach her how to make jam and can it using a hot water bath. So…I was up at 630am and have been going all day long. It is now 5:10am Sunday. The ER does not have a cozy recliner to relax in like at the nursing home - so - Ive been in a chilly room keeping Mom comfy and taking care of her.
Can’t sleep = as this IS an ER. The guy in the first bed flat lined earlier this evening
, but he’s doing okay now. It just gets really noisy in here.
Birthday was a couple days ago, and BOY oh BOY it was one to remember!!!
So, at 9am…I got a brand new Grandson. A bit later, discovered I got a new red Angus calf, and 3 baby turkeys. And if that wasn’t enough, hubby took me and the kids out to a steak dinner, then to see TopGun2. Then, back home to open gifts. He bought me a commercial grade KitchenAid ----8 qt. The thing is a monster. So, except for no sleep…everything here is going well. Just hoping Dad an shake the sickness, and Mom continues to heal. She did PT today, and was fine until she ripped the feeding tube out. She gets agitated, and probably pulled it out without knowing it.
Not sure how I’ll get sleep now…but I sure hope the transport gets here soon!
yea doesn’t that irk ya HA
I know I would love to see inside Every time we pass a big ol’ ancient barn I just get a hankering to wander inside, see what old timey farm equip is in there, or horse tack or ?? Alot of crazy stuff in old old barns I see old old barns and tell my hubby, omgosh I would love to just ramble thru that barn for a day! See what I find!
@SecondBreakfast
Super Congrats on your new baby Grandson.
and wow on that day you had!!! A fine birthday, alot of birthin’ happenin’, good presents, a movie. That is a full on packed day!
So sorry about your mom with the feeding tube and all. She has alot of recovery to handle. My mother in law got a feeding tube right now also. I tell ya, when they are weak and sick to that level, they are going to require alot to heal. Is you mom in a rehab type program too now?
----------------defrosted ribeyes for today. I am again ALL over beef
my chicken breast was yummy yesterday.
I have one more breast cooked in fridge so will just hound that down after my ribeye for second meal. I don’t like much paired with chicken, so if it isn’t enough I will just eat up some tuna and/or sardines with it.
Finally I tried to eat only lean pork for lunch It’s weekend and I got hungry very early again.
328g pork later I am nicely satiated. It’s no normal day (weekend days rarely are), yesterday wasn’t that either so it’s not very informative but oh so helpful now.
It felt a few bites. Good I didn’t want to enjoy myself just get rid of my small hunger. It was nice but a very quick meal.
Okay I had some coffee with cream too, I have whipped cream now, yum. Just a little, I fed the bigger part of the 200ml box to Alvaro.
I continue these experiments I have pretty much pork now, mostly lean but I bought some shoulders in the village yesterday so I can make nice fried and partially crunchy pork and lard.
@FrankoBear lol I just so.eyimes like to have a bit of umph in my tea and it makes it a little bit like a spicy chai. Loose earl grey in the infuser pot and add chilli flakes. I guess I could use a fresh chilli and just chuck it in whole but that would maybe become a waste of money as the dried chilli flakes do a great job and I only have to sprinkle in a few. I usually have one pot over lunchtime along with my fresh water and leave the leaves in for the next day and refill. Thats what I have done today and it is still as potent! Sometimes next days pot is a bit on the weak side but I like that also … crikey I am so easy going hahahaha
Fair but wakeful night, managed to get my quota… just , but that was with a lay in.
Got up, did 100 stair runs. Had a walk into local town and got a new radio alarm clock as mine broke a couple of days ago. Walked home had a late brunch of 2 beef burgers and 2 fried duck eggs. The plate looks like something dished up at a greasy Joe’s but we Carni’s don’t mind do we? Tasted lovely.
Walked to Lidl and back, only went for some deo and carried back 2 large 60%reduced pork shoulder joints (one was about £1.80 and t’other about 2.20, cheap at half the price lol) one has been squashed into my freezer.
Dinner was the remaining cold roast pork with special butter, a few slices of edam, some Hungarian style slice sausage, 150g cold water prawns and 80g anchovies! Picking this early evening lol only took a pic of the pork.
Chicken night last night. 2MAD; bacon (2 middle rashers) and 3 pasture fed chicken eggs and 2 slices Jarlsberg cheese. 2 x black coffee with cream 3 hours apart. Haven’t solved that addiction, but can see it differently. 6pm, after sunset*, re-heated home-made chicken soup and cold previously baked chicken wings. One slice, playing card sized, of pan-fried sheeps’ milk halloumi (cooking cheese). Staying on plan. Always hearing the echo of @Fangs calling and carried on the wild, west, winter wind, “Stay on plan.”
*eating dinner tuned-in with daylight.
Last night had heartburn (1;30am). But had tried a turmeric supplement capsule as I wean off COVID treatment medications. There are always little lessons. Health is the aim, not perfection.
This morning fasting blood glucose 6.2 mmol/l (112) and blood ketones 0.2 mmol/l
Physical activity increasing. Joint pain from a few short months ago has gone. Lungs bursting with fresh air. Able to go for a 1 hour dog walk along a stormy coastline yesterday evening.
So still, I’m reading every day. Usually morning and night. But time’s so tight right now. We have errands and work every day so far since we got back to our land in Texas on the 4th.
Tonight and Friday night, we had last minute calls for gigs. Friday, we drive 2 hours to the site, got home around 11:30. Tonight it wasn’t far and we only played til 8, so after packing up and socializing a bit we were home by 9:30.
But I’m solid ZC and I’m here with you all! Love your numerous births and new grandchild and happy birthday! @SecondBreakfast; mothers and m-i-l’s with difficult times @SecondBreakfast and @Fangs - so much difficulty on a daily basis! Glad this is a place where you can scream. @FrankoBear I’m so happy that you’re feeling well enough to walk an hour with Billie! That’s a good sign. You may finally be on the healthy side of COVID.
Yesterday I smoked a barbacoa roast (beef cheek). It’s yummy and very fatty. Tonight I had a fake taco made from a cheddar wrap and barbacoa.
I also sous vided a chicken yesterday. It should have been 6 hours, but I forgot to take it out at 9pm and instead took it out at 6 this morning! I was sure it would be ruined but it was actually still very good. I always give the white meat to hubby and he said it was excellent. The dark meat was great for sure, I had a quarter reheated in the electric frying pan with duck fat.
Tomorrow morning I’m putting in the brisket (finally!) and hope it’s still good! It’s a 9 hour job, so I need an early morning start to keep from having to get up all hours of the night to take it out. I also have boneless pork ribs to add to the smoker. So I’ll have a few choices for the next few days. I like to have a variety available at each meal, that makes me happy @Shinita I totally understand the temptation of fruit! Here, peaches are really really good and they even have a peach festival. There was a time 40 years ago when I went through the state of Georgia and bought a case of peaches and ate nothing else for over a week. It’s really tempting - a very nice memory. Watermelon too! Oh this is the best time of year for that too. I’m very dedicated at this point though.
There was a lady at our gig tonight I would have placed at over 75, but she said, I’m 70. I said, so am I, in November. She said, mine’s in October, we’re the same age. In all fairness, she had the voice of a 3-pack a day smoker, so that could be part of it. But I’m excited about the prospect of slowing aging with this woe - I hope it’s true!
Since returning to Texas I’ve kept up the hour a day walking I started with Mimsy in Virginia. It’s wonderful to see the road from the walker’s viewpoint. We’ve been here 4 1/2 years and this is the first time I’ve been out there every morning, just seeing everything from this perspective. Usually when we leave Virginia I become sort of a couch potato because it’s so easy with the fenced land to just let the puppy out and not walk with her.
You do buy alot of your meat at Lidl. I have one further away, kinda a long drive but I am thinking of heading there. Did you find that prices are lower a bit from other grocery stores in your area?
@FrankoBear
" 2 x black coffee with cream 3 hours apart. Haven’t solved that addiction, but can see it differently. "
and that is key. When we stay on plan, that is exactly what one hopes for literally. We see all we eat and drink in a new light. It comes off some cemented strong force in our life and falls into a new thinking of how we are going to ‘use this food or drink’ in our life to work for us and not against us. And we are ok and calm with those thoughts, not fighting against them. If you and coffee are doing ok and you enjoy it and right now the world is set in fine motion for ya, just keep on doing what you are doing! Later you might start to see it even more differently and you can decide to change it thru any options you desire regarding your coffee but you will be doing it by your desire to do it, not forced thru some crazy dieting regime you didn’t want to do but were told ‘you should do’.
It is all about you now FB, the exact place you want to be!! Fab post you are feeling better, getting off those covid meds and are getting over that hill!! Happy for you!!
@JJFiddle, so happy you posted. Getting ready to send out a posse to round you up out there in TX to make sure you post
I liked reading about how you are enjoying your walking! I would say that about when I rode my horses out on new trails that it is a whole new way of seeing your surroundings. I had a ‘life from horseback’ and now I am like you, a new view of life from walking, I really think that is an important statement you made!
You sound busy but doing great. Good combo!!
---------------Jerky July is rolling on. It’s funny but I kinda don’t even remember June when I think about. I guess befuddled brain and being overwhelmed will do that to ya but I feel more calm, putting the crazy in boxes and dealing with it. All good in starting to come around better, might be I am eating more darn beef! I tell ya I am on a ribeye tangent again. A hard one LOL
Today is a big old honking ribeye and not sure on second meal. I might defrost a big pack of chicken legs. Not a monster fan but hubby loves them and I might just cook up some to chow on and maybe fry up some bacon with them? yea sounds like a plan to me. Ahhh ZC. Such a simple menu planning lifestyle!
@JJFiddle We just moved to a home with no fenced yard, so we’re back to walking the dog. But I wouldn’t call it exercise… he’s old and we basically follow his nose for frequent detailed investigations of innocent looking patches of grass. But I love walking him and taking my time too. Just to be out and to NOTICE my surroundings. Good for the soul.
