It's the holiday and I Screwed up

#1

Good evening everyone. I was around family for the holiday having a good time and I ate a ton of carbs. I mean a ton yesterday and today. I tested my urine strip and it is beige. I feel a little guilty but I feel like crap now. What can do to get back on track quicker. Is doing a water fast for 24 or 48 hours ok. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

@Msmimi2424 if you are fat adapted I would probably do 3 x 42 back to back. Also have a TBSP of ACV in water now to help alleviate the carbage.

What does the ACV do?

@MiKetoAF it lowers your blood glucose levels. It is best to have the ACV before carbs but does help after. If I know I am going to be in a situation where I know I will have more carbs than I want I will have a glass of ACV water.

Are you still in holiday and with your family? If yes…
I am gonna say an unpopular opinion: since you fall off already, you may as well eat all the sweet/carby things that you missed for these few days.

#6

Ok on the. Acv but is the 3×42. Sorry im lost

#7

No I’m home. Now I feel really guilty asf

#8

I see… Then think about it.

Do you have any carby food that you see and you get interested, but you cannoy eat due to keto? If there is any, maybe you can go ahead and try first. Or else, in keto = cannot eat them again.

I know this opinion is unpopular here, but you consider from here.

Like, you know, all the fruits and stuff.

Like, if you’re an alcoholic who fell off the wagon, might as well get drunk again? I think there’s a good reason this isn’t going to be a be a popular opinion, it’s about as counter-productive as any advice I can imagine.

@Msmimi2424 Don’t feel guilty, you’ll be fine. Let go of the past and get back on keto. If it were me, knowing that fasting is easier when I’ve been back on keto, I’d probably just do keto for a few days before fasting again. But the fast is a good idea.

Since starting keto April 30th I haven’t been craving carbs. I have carbs in my home because I have young children who want ice cream, chips, pizza ECT but it didnt affect me until now. I guess over the weekend it was because I haven’t seen family in a while and I was just excited. I really want to stay committed to keto and not give up even though I would have been at my 1 month mark this Friday. I am very over weight and would love to succeed. Even though it was my choice and my fuck up I just need some encouragement and advice. I’m still new to keto and learning as I go

#11

Ok. Thank you

#12

You’re doing awesome, and you did NOT ruin your efforts with one weekend. I’m fairly sure you’re not the only one who ends up eating stuff they didn’t mean to on holidays with family. If you can resist all the kid foods around your home and still do keto, you’re pretty amazing. I don’t know how you parents do it.

#13

Thank you. Lol I just tell them not to eat it in front of me, but seriously it’s here and I wont touch it. I just hope i succeed. Thank you for the tip

This is a lifestyle

It was the past
Get through the now or the “ icky “ feeling
Don’t look back
Get some rest and sleep. Prior maybe W ACV or some tea of ur liking ( lemon, ginger, etc )

Start off tomorrow refreshed and ready to take KETO!

Good Luck

Thank you

I know it is not good, but if the threadstarter happens to have any carby food that he missed and he doesn’t have any critical health problem yet, then he can consider this idea.

Of course, if he has critical health problem and keto is the way(and the only way) to save his life, then it is another story.

In the case of alcohol, the damage is more immediate and obvious, so the same cannot be said exactly the same for the alcoholic. But sugar/carb is not causing immediate harm to normal human, so it is still okay. The keyword is immediate, so it is of course better to get back on the horse as soon as possible, but if you are being in a hurry to get back on the horse, later when you see those carby food that you like, you might regret this decision and then fall off the horse again.

I understand what you’re trying to say, but carb craving is in many ways similar to other addictive substance craving. The more you have it, the more you want, it’s how our bodies work. And when have you ever had a carby food that you crave, and found yourself so satisfied that you then never craved it again?

#18

If you feel that you won’t regret about missing the chance to eat some carby foods that you missed during the keto period, then go ahead and get back on the horse. After all, one less carby eating day is one more healthy day. Heh

#19

Thanks for the tip. I will just take it 1 day at a time. A lesson to be learned. Keto on I go

#20

Well…never. I will agree that sugar is addictive.
