.... it's because I'm on a diet šŸ˜€

So today I had to pick up a few things at the grocery store. Already pretty well stocked on meat. I did get some other stuff, besides this, but I’m not sure about you, but I generally put similar stuff together on the conveyer, seperating veggies, meat, dairy, etc.
I had stacked all this stuff in a nice little pile. So I had to play with the checking girl a little… And I said to her, ā€œSee this pile right here ? Yea… That’s because I’m on a dietā€ :slightly_smiling_face: She immediately laughed, and said, ā€œWhat the heck are you talking aboutā€ā€¦ So I asked if she had ever heard of Keto ? She said she had, but didn’t know a lot about it. So I told her well honestly, you see what I’m eating right here… Besides the meat and veggies anyway.
Before we were done, I did go on to tell her, that after losing 45 lbs in the first 10 weeks or so, I was so comfortable eating what I did, that I’ve just continued to eat this way, with almost zero effort, for the last 5 months. And so it really wasn’t a diet, per say, but just my new way of eating :slightly_smiling_face: She was a pretty big girl… But as usual I didn’t suggest she should do Keto… But that she should totally look into it. She said she would, and honestly, I could see the wheels in her head turning :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyway, does this look like a nice pile of food or what ? :slightly_smiling_face:

Saving fat female cashiers one grocery store visit at a time. You’re lucky she didn’t smack you upside the head with that block of salted butter, Chris.

Lol. Agreed!

so funny, and also reminds me of sharing a faith-based belief system with people when you’re really excited about what it’s done in your own life and you just GOTTA share. I feel like keto is kind of like that… and I’m the same way (just not really with strangers, not that outgoing!) The two biggest things I talk to people about are Jesus and keto. lol

ā€œNo potatoes with your steak?ā€
ā€œI’m on a diet.ā€

ā€œNo bun for the burger?ā€
ā€œI’m on a diet.ā€

ā€œTriple butter on the salmon and no rice on the side?ā€
ā€œI’m on a diet.ā€

:grinning:

Well, I feel like I’m a pretty good ā€œpeople readerā€ā€¦ Always been a talker, but now after 3yrs of rideshare too…
I could just tell by her reaction to my, ā€œHello, how are you doing todayā€ ?
She was a friendly young lady.

:slightly_smiling_face: lol… It is exactly like that !

@FishChris - You probably blew her mind with all that fat and the ā€œon a dietā€ comment :joy::rofl::rofl::rofl:

hey hey he never said he said one thing to insult her weight or anything else about this cashier…cut this guy a break! wow LOL

for me my weirdest was like 20 packs of butter on a great sale at the holiday time (and my eyes are open now for it to happen again!)

Cashier said…wow that is SO much butter you must be making a gazillion pans of cookies and baking for the holidays.

I said nope, I eat that. Carnivore eater here and I stock up as the price dictates and I got the deer in the headlights look, no clue what I was saying and we just left it at that LOL

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #10

Yeah, when I was a cashier I was friendly too. In customer service your life depends on being friendly whether you feel like it or not. Just because you left feeling good about yourself doesn’t mean she did.

Maybe it was a great interaction and you’ve helped her by giving her a glimps into the keto world. But in a ā€œthe customer is always rightā€ world, the power dynamic can be pretty screwed up. Something to be aware of.

This is so true!! I have been in the Natural Health and Wellness industry for years. The owner is strict about us not making ā€œcommentsā€ about any foods or items that customers purchase…they’re always right (and so is she!!)!:smirk:

I believe this is similar to the training local drug dealers get from their gang distributors.

Wow, I hope you don’t eventually discover that you have any problems with dairy, but yes, that’s a glorious pile.

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #14

First I just want to say, ā€œDon’t be a freaking snowflakeā€ ! Oh… But you might hurt somebody’s feelings ! Whatever. I’m a really nice guy, and know how to talk to people. But then you have a bunch of young liberals who are just paralyzed with the fear that somebody might be offended ! This is one of the biggest problems with this country today ! Back in the old days, Americans had a spine. It would serve them well to grow one again !

Now then :slightly_smiling_face: The whole interaction felt very much like a positive one that simply got her a little bit more interested in keto.

Honestly, I’ve eaten more dairy in the last 7 months then I ever have in my life, yet I’ve also had less stomach problems than I ever did prior to keto as well. But yes, it certainly would suck if I developed a problem with dairy / lactose…

(Susan) #16

Hopefully she will look into it, that is great =).

I am dairy free right now, so I cannot eat any of that, so it is only making me jealous… grrr haha.

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #17

Hey Susan, I’m assuming it’s a lactose issue ? Have you ever tried Lactaid ?

So much of my fat cals come from dairy, I don’t know what I’d do if I couldn’t eat it ?

(Susan) #18

It is not that – I cannot lose weight if I eat any dairy, so I had to stop it since October 18 until November 30 -so far all I am missing is the cream cheese to make those pepper/cream cheese/ham wraps and the HWC in tea, drinking tea and any coffee I have now, plain. I have eliminated almost all foods except meat and a tiny bit of vegetables atm and doing 3-44 hour fasts a week and still not losing weight, but my body is looking slimmer, so something is happening =).

I am doing this Dr. Jason Fung (IDM) protocol until November 30:

IF%20Schedule%20-%20Copy

I am doing this only 44 hours instead of the 42 they have listed.

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #19

Oh okay. Well theirs no doubt that these dairy products are high in cals…
Hopefully some day down the road, once you get to your goal, you will be able to eat some dairy and not put weight back on…

(Susan) #20

I am not doing it to reduce calories, I was doing it because multiple people on the forum were telling me that they had to eliminate dairy to lose weight again.
