.... it's because I'm on a diet šŸ˜€

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #21

Chris, snowflake and spineless Americans aside, I was looking at it from a larger lady stand point. If some buff dude came in and told me about a great diet I should check out I might be offended. But if you’re as charming as you say, then it was probably fine. I was just ribbing you some!

(Jane) #22

Yeah, I was a cashier in high school and the young kids today would be APPALLED at some of the things customers said to me and I was no snowflake LOL.

It was before social media (1975) so the same folks who are anonymous assholes online used to be harsh on cashiers because we had to smile and take it or lose our jobs.

Not saying you were Chris! Just commenting on @Ruina’s post

I got so burned out dealing with jerks (mostly men, but some bitch on wheels too) that I enjoyed my college part time job cleaning houses. I’d rather scrub toilets and be left alone than deal with the general public as a clerk. LOL

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #23

My work apron says ā€œHell is other peopleā€ which I’m allowed to wear because I DON’T work with the public but you wouldn’t believe how many people stop me in stores on the way home from work and ask me what isle the so-and-so is in like it’s the Kroger uniform.

(Bob M) #24

I think if you say, ā€œEating these has allowed me to lose 45 pounds in 10 weeks! I now believe everything we have been taught about nutrition is a lie!ā€, and then not recommended anything, that would be better. As soon as you start recommending something, that’s where it gets a bit tough. I.e., ā€œYou should consider losing weightā€ comes across.

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #25

Do you notice any difference between using the Great Value brand heavy cream and a different one (like the Land o’ Lakes)? I’ve always prefered Land o’ Lakes because of the ingredient list (and they might have a better carb count, but not sure).

(Jane) #26

It was interesting to watch the Larry King interview with Dr Atkins linked up on another thread.

King had had a heart attack so was certainly put on a low-fat, low-salt diet.

He kept asking Dr Atkins - his voice incredulous - about all the red meat and saturated fat he ate. A hit of envy in his voice also!

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #27

Back to my comment, ā€œsome people just need to grow a spineā€. Had she taken it in a negative way, which I don’t think she did, that would have been her problem.

I forgot to say, she was a black girl… So now I guess that makes me a racist now too :grinning: lol

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #28

I don’t. Honestly, I haven’t looked at the ingredients list closely… Only for carbs, which were the same as other brands…

(back and doublin' down) #29

I use Great Value when I’m in proximity to a Walmart. There’s a $4 difference in price per quart in my neck of the woods. Though I’m not a WallyWorld fan, the savings is considerable, in a month’s time, that’s two or three more choice ribeyes from the local meat market!

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #30

LOL WOW.
You sound like a total d!ck.
Don’t like what I said? That’s YOUR problem.

Do you hear yourself mate?
Why even bring up that she was black? what the hell is wrong with you?
No one wants to hear about your diet at the checkout, even if you think they do.
Unless she said, wow, that’s a lot of dairy and very fattening, maybe then you could have said ā€œYeah, i’m on a high fat diet, it’s working really well for me!ā€

Ugh. I’m Australian, and I have no problem saying what I think :stuck_out_tongue:

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #31

Maybe in type print. I actually consider myself to be a people person.
I get along with nearly everyone.

Why did I bring up that she was black ? Just to fire up hyper sensitive people like yourself :grinning: lol And apparently it worked ! :grinning:

In fact, you totally proved my point…
Their are a lot of, mostly young melenials (in the US anyway, not sure about AU) who if you mention skin color, your automatically racist, sexual orientation, your automatically homophobic… IMPO, this is completely retarded, as I think people who really are racist or homophobic will almost never bring these things up with the general public. They have something to hide. I don’t.

Now Ava, if you have a problem with this, that’s also ā€˜your problem’ as I’m smiling while I type this

(Ellen ) #32

Your passive aggressive behavior is offending me as well. I sure appreciate @ava_ad0re. At least she’s straight with you instead of all ā€œsmileyā€. You’re a very angry man Chis. No need.

(Bob M) #33

Cream is one of those strange things. We buy one that’s just cream (no additives), and it is slightly more expensive ($1) per quart than others. Then there’s the one from the local farm, which is the best cream I’ve ever had, but it’s over double the price of any other cream.

We don’t get to Walmart enough to buy anything there. The closest one is a bit of a drive and you have to want to get to that part of (a different) town.

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #34

I’m not hyper sensitive nor a millennial.
You are just a down right idiot.
And I’m not the only one who thinks so.
You’re very racist, Chris. I’m not offended by you. I feel sorry for your ignorance and lack of judgement. You’re obviously an angry passive little man. We are not here to try and deliberately offend people. That says a lot about you. Quite negative and narrow minded actually.

(PSackmann) #35

Chris, I’m not a snowflake nor a Millennial, in fact my oldest is pre-Millennial. I’m from that golden age you refer to, when people had spines. So, with that in mind, let me ask you a question. Would you have made the same remarks if she had been slim and fit-looking? If so, then you’re a person who doesn’t understand how people might take what is said, which isn’t their problem but yours for being insensitive. If not, then that’s a whole 'nother ball of wax, isn’t it? I hope you’re just being insensitive and boorish

I was going to repudiate and that drug dealers never gave that training. What a thing for Keto Sheriff Joey to say :open_mouth:. But on thinking about it, yes they do!

In these parts we call them ā€˜drug reps’ and they turn up with donuts to sweeten the deals and secret chocolates for the nurses.

Nice pile @FishChris.

Looking further up the line it looks like you got into a tangle by mentioning the physique of the checkout operator. In one way it is great to see you get a calling out on that. Just in case it was an alter ego who typed it. Well done community. It’s a powerful reminder of how delicate, yet potentially incendiary, story telling can be.

When I first read the one line about the girl I thought, Uh-o, there is a derailing point. I can read it in all innocence as you may have intended, based on reading others of your posts. The perceived fact that you sparked her interest and enjoyed an interaction to add a bit of human sociability into a working day. And that’s the way I read it.

I’m going back to read the other responses now. Read this comment quickly as it is likely I’ll be back to delete it after reading the fall out.

[elevator music]

I’ll leave this post for now.

@FishChris you are a self professed stirrer. You laid that out. So it was interesting to see straight talking @ava_ad0re Katie the Australian, come back for another bite. Katie speaks her truth unencumbered. You two pod peas. We Australians love a ship stirrer (or a contrarian to be more politically correct) as they make us think, and hopefully, reflect upon our own held points of view. And Katie, we well know that, particularly In Queensland (due to the politicians) straight talking is on the border of rude. Sort of like Goondiwindi. Yep, you may have been a bit rude? Maybe not. Your call. Is there the potential for a virtual reconciliation at all?

The storm in the tea cup :coffee: that brewed up contains many a salient point that hint at larger societal issues, and we all need a bit of salt to help relieve thought cramps, but my overall feeling is that something may have been lost in translation and misinterpreted.

I can’t manifest any angry voices in my head while reading. Most probably because anger is a symptom of malnutrition. Everyone here seems full of energy and pretty clear thinking. It reads as banter to me.

We’re on the edge of moderator thread police coming to shut this thread down, or Keto Sheriff @SomeGuy Joey (recently elected when he was down the hall in the bathroom) showing up with a big pile of calm good humour and good sense, if we pursue the big social issues too far away from Chris’s shopping experience.

(Dirty Lazy Keto'er, Sucralose freak ;)) #38

What a bunch of oversensitive goofballs :grinning:
Yea, like I said, she was a little fat, and she was black… granted, that had nothing to do with our totally friendly interaction.
Racist… Give me an ef’ing break.

In fact, did anyone here know I am 1/4 black ? Now what ?
