Issues after removing dairy?

My wife has been keto for a few months now & for the most part things are going well. She noticed after eating yogurt that she felt off/down (low energy & cranky mainly) so as an experiment she removed dairy three days ago.

Oddly, since dropping dairy she’s felt like crap. Dry sinuses, low energy, achy & fatigued. Aside from removing dairy there have been no other alterations. Think it’s coincidental (maybe a virus/illness)? Or is there some type of dairy withdrawal that I’ve never heard of?

Could it be a carb thing? Like, keto flu all over again. If she ate a lot of dairy and didn’t replace it she could be eating and drinking a lot less.

Could be the body detoxing from dairy as if she has an intolerance, that often causes sinus issues. Or, it could be a cold bug. Give it time to see.

Dairy is pretty high fat, has she added in other fats instead ?

Yes, she’s been tracking closely & her macros are good. Either way many thanks for all the responses & suggestions!

It’s possible she’s getting sick. Timing could be a fluke. But keep investigating. Our bodies are mysterious things.

Don’t know about where you are at, but allergy season is ramping up around my area.

It get’s a bit stranger- her symptoms increased, specifically sinus congestion & general fatigue. She decided to try yogurt to see if it would worsen or help the issue; within about ten minutes her nose was completely clear & she felt better.

It seems removing dairy gives her the same reactions I get from eating it.

Weird! My first thought was dehydration. Maybe this WoE keeps her from generating enough mucus, and the dairy kicks it into gear. Who knows? :woman_shrugging:

Makes it sound like a cleansing crisis type of thing where symptoms get worse during detox.
