I have bought slim fast fat bombs and mtc oil. Are they good products
Is this a good product?
You will be much better off eating real food, IMO. I’m talking about single item, whole foods that are not processed. You can be healthy and lose weight (if you wish) by eating pork chops, steaks, chicken thighs and low carb vegetables.
There’s no need to get fancy with gimicky products that may or may not work. Save your money and spend it on some quality meat.
Thank you. Like I said I am very new to this but I do want to lose weight and be more healthy.
In one sentence, the best advice I can offer is to “avoid sugar and starch”.
Keeping your carbs low and focusing on fat and protein from real food is the easiest way to get healthy. You don’t have to go hungry to lose weight and you can eat delicious, satisfying meals.
A few tips:
Keep net carbs under 20.
~You can likely start a bit higher and work your way down but 20 is a good honest number that will allow you to eat plenty of vegetables along with fat and protein.
Use a carb tracker like cronometer.com
~so you can accurately track your carbs. It tracks many other things but this is the most important
Feed yourself plenty of fat and fairly moderate protein
~These two things are your best friend in regards to keeping hunger and cravings in check. You should not gorge yourself on these things but eat until you are not hungry. It’s very important to not starve yourself, so eat when you are hungry.
Keep your electrolytes up.
~At least 64oz (2liters) of water and 2+ teaspoons of salt per day. We don’t retain either of these very well on a ketogenic diet and those two things are paramount for reducing/preventing the Keto Flu
Don’t stress and get plenty of sleep.
~Growing, healing and losing weight work best when we are relaxed. So try to get 7-9 hours per day and don’t obsess with what keto is not yet doing.
I saw some Keto people review these on YouTube, pretty sure the guy said he wouldn’t touch the oil by SlimFast but he and his partner thought the fat bomb peanut butter cups were worth while - I haven’t tried any premade Keto products, just seems easier and cheaper not to for me
I don’t buy into those products. That said… If it helps keto become a sustainable lifestyle, I don’t see anything wrong having a few premade treats every here and there. It can be overdone really quickly, though.
Hi Nancy, and welcome.
When I started I bought a bag of strawberry protein shake. I was told much as you have been - go whole food and avoid processed.
I took that on board but I still used the shake because that is how I got through the first couple of weeks. I will use up what I’ve got but probably won’t buy any more, at least not flavoured. I might buy plain if I decide to use it in cooking.
Use what you’ve got (check carbs and keep under 20g/day) and the evaluate the value of them. Are they better than fat bombs you can make yourself? Do you need fat bombs? If both the answers are yes, then get more, if not, don’t.
I personally avoid as much processed foods as I can. Check what type of fat they use: soy, vegetable oils are not healthy for us and usually anything that can be shelf stable is not going to be made with a healthy fat.
Will having one once in a while hurt? Probably not, just choose your compromises carefully. Fat bombs made with coconut oil is a different beast from something that can be easily manufactured. I personally just eat nuts.
Hi Nancy,
I haven’t been doing keto for very long but I have found out through trial and error that the more “sugar substitute products” I eat, the more my carb cravings increase. Pre made keto food is still “processed” and it’s actually very easy to make your own and take them with you if necessary. I started losing weight again after about a month when I cut out most of my sugar substitutes and fat bombs.
You have to do what works for you and your lifestyle but personally I think there are better choices than processed keto food/snacks.
Good luck to you!
