Is something wrong?

Hello there, this is my first post on this forum.
I started my keto diet 3 days ago and got my urine test strips yesterday. I was surprisingly already in ketosis in the afternoon. reading 1.5 mmol/L. I thought this was great because I was feeling really good.
By the night I was at about 4.0 mmol/L and now today, day 4, first thing in the morning it was reading quite dark, in the 8-16mmol/L.

I feel like this is happening quite fast and I’m concerned. I feel a little out of it but that could be paranoia that something is wrong. I don’t have any of the other symptoms of ketoacidosis. Does this sound normal? I was feeling so good yesterday.

Throw them away and stop worrying.

You’re probably dehydrated. Drink more water (like a few glasses) and then test again in a few hours. Then throw them away.

Keto is about eating healthy. There is nothing wrong with you, just keep following keto guidelines and work on making the food choices that work for you. And drink more water since you are probably peeing like … alot. Consider an electrolyte supplement if you start feeling run down.

Are you diabetic? Do you test your glucose?

I also use the pee test strips but only to see if I’m in ketosis. I used them in the beginning to see when I got there, and now I only use them to see if something knocked me out.

Im not too concerned about my ketone levels, just that I’m in ketosis. If your levels are something you want to track, and many do, then you’ll want to get blood meter.

I’m not diabetic and have been drinking water like crazy. I figure the strips I’m using must just get dark very easily because it is reading at least 8 mmol/L even after scarfing down a bunch of cashews. I feel really good so I guess that’s all that matters.

Have another family member/friend test the strips whether they are keto or not. Perhaps you have a poor quality product?

Order this:

It’ll give you an accurate reading of your ketones.
