Is Black Tea really this high in carbs?

(Bansaw) #1

I’m on Cronometer to get my stats right and I like Black tea so I input that.
Its got a few options.
To my surprise I find that Black tea with tap water is 0.7g carbs! That cant be right surely?

Now, down the list is “Black tea ready to drink” and thats 0.0g carbs! Anyone help me out here?

Wow, I didn’t realize that black tea or coffee had any carbs. I thought they were 0 because on fasts we are allowed to drink them, eek.

thats the thing, if you click on “Beverages, Tea, black, ready to drink” it says 0.0g carbs. And distilled water tea was 0.1g I think.

I checked the USDA food composition database, and randomly checked five or six of the black teas that showed up. All of them showed 0g protein, 0g carbohydrate, 0g sugar, and 0g fat per 100g of tea leaves. Cronometer is in error.

thanks, thought so… how can black tea be 0.7g carbs !

Depends on the serving size? There has to be SOMETHING in tea.

I’ve been counting 1 carb for Oolong teas and other green teas. I’d rather count one extra than have sneaky ones get by.

There’s no penalty for being extra low carb.
