Introduction Dan

Hello fellow Ketonians!
I just wanted to introduce myself and also say that everyone here seems great, it’s nice to be on a forum where people are up beat!
So I started out early July with IF and not changing my diet from carby to fatty then slowly progressed to keto by August 15 as I listened to podcasts and watched video’s online. I’m 60yo male, and I’ve been kinda obsessed with keto and diet. Originally, I just wanted to lose the fat around my waist, that was my motivation at first and lost a little over 15 lbs in about a month (mostly water right?), now I’m just trying to maintain at 150 and hopefully put on 5 lbs of muscle in a year. So Hi! I’m pretty much a lurker but really enjoy the posts from everyone and learning from you. Thanks, Dan

Yes, the weight loss in the first two weeks was probably mostly water. But by the end of the fourth week you are definitely losing fat. Keep in mind that Dr. Phinney and Dr. Volek write in ‘The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living’ that you need a couple of weeks to get fat adapted and about six weeks to become fully fat adapted before you become a fat burning machine. BTW, i will be 56 in 4 days…Welcome old man :grinning:

Thanks Omar, 60 has been good to me so far, feeling really good since I quit drinking almost 3 years ago, plus being retired now is stress free

Thanks Virginia, nice to meet you too, like I said, I’m retired and have lots of time to chat, nobody I know in real life here does keto so It’s nice to at least have online contacts

Thanks Katie, it’s good to be here!

Todd you made me laugh, So how do you know when you’re old, when it’s been a long time since someone called you old man lol

Well, my grand kids think I am ancient, heck I probably thought my father was old when he was in his forties and I was a teenager. Anyway, I do not think you are ever to old to start this lifestyle. So as they say down under “Good on ya”. Stay keto strong Dan…
