I left this note on the comment section of the podcasts page, and thought it might be a better idea to put it here in the Newbie section, seeing as I am new here and spent some time introducing myself!
Remarks on Inspiring your Community with Dr. Brian Lenzkes:
This was a really fantastic show, and I have to give a huge standing ovation to Brian Lenzkes for his awesome contribution! Fun, informative, enlightening and motivating! I just loved it, and even though you guys had mentioned the show went on longer than anticipated, I could have listened to the three of you banter on for another few hours! Brian’s sparkling personality blended so perfectly with both of yours, Carl and Richard, and made for a perfect episode! WELL DONE!!
I would also like to mention that with this episode, I have FINALLY caught up! I’ve been binge-listening to your outstanding show for a solid 2+ weeks…whenever I was on my computer and had some time to listen, I was right back at the latest show. Couldn’t stop listening!! I will say that I did skip the first 5 min of each show and I didn’t listen to the recipe section either–the first bit is drainingly repetitive and, since I am generally on my normal weekday 22-24-hour fast, I don’t really want to be thinking about delectable recipes. As for the boring front-end, I do understand the important value for the first-time listener…and you’ll get bunches of them with every show. Conundrum: bore your hoard of listeners but inform and pull in new listeners or appease the crowd but very possibly lose potential long-time listeners. In the end, I’d keep on doing the show exactly as-is. We can pop forward a few minutes if we care to, and no worries!
About me and my husband:
I am not diabetic, nor am I pre-diabetic. I have no health issues and came to find out about keto through a friend on FB. At 53 yrs and a height of 5.3, I weighed 117 pounds at the time and have always been active, but I also knew that I was badly addicted to carbs. Especially my beloved granola every morning. Both my husband and I admitted that this was our favorite thing to eat every day and looked forward to our hearty-sized bowls, generously littered with a grand sprinkling of cranberries, topped with vanilla soy milk. Oh dear. No matter how much I exercised, the weight was slowly creeping up. I’d beat it down a few pounds but it would roll slowly back on again. Ugh.
I decided to embrace keto and after a couple of weeks, I twirled in front of my husband to show him the 6 pounds I’d lost and he jumped aboard. Once he tried Mug Cakes, he was convinced that he could live within the “constraints” of keto, and then we began cooking recipes. SOLD!! I’ve discovered that I actually love to cook! The only problem is that we have to cook strategically or there’s just too many yummy things to eat and half must be tossed in the freezer to keep from going bad!
Results so far:
I’m down even more weight and the excess cellulite fat that’s left is ever-so-slowly letting go of its vice-grip. (I knew going in that since I didn’t really NEED to lose weight, my road would be slow, filled with plateaus, but eventually, I’d make headway, and that’s exactly how it’s gone! :D) My husband has lost 22.5 pounds, nearing his goal and feels fantastic. We are both so happy to no longer be puppets on a string, dancing to the will of the Carbohydrate God. Keto has brought us closer and we now cook as partners, overjoyed at the fun this brings to our lives.
I look forward to going along on this ride with you two, Carl and Richard, and am so happy to have found a healthy lifestyle that I will joyfully embrace for a lifetime. I hope I’ll be able to pay it forward in the years to come by introducing people to keto and taking back control of their lives.
great big hugs from a vivacious, bouncy, extremely happy lady in southern Oregon who thinks you guys ROCK!
