Intro and question

Hi there. Thanks for allowing me into this forum. I’ve been adopting a keto way of eating for almost 28 days. Lately it seems like Im just chasing the macros. What I mean is I eat to fulfill my macros and some days its basically a protein source such as fish or beef or chicken and then straight up fat… while it looks crude on paper it is the easiest strategy for me. I get almost no carbs, because its simply easier and I dont crave them. Is that ok? Im also not sure about being fat adapted yet although Id like to think Im headed that way if not already. My ketone meter should be delivered saturday. Ive been using ketostix and have yet to not be registering that im in ketosis so i know im on the right track but want to have a little more legitimacy than the urine strips. I have not weighed myself yet, thought id make that a monthly rather than daily or weekly ritual. Honestly, nothing fits differently yet. Well, thanks again! Looking forward to this journey.

Welcome! Sounds like you’re on the right track. Never worry about getting too few carbs. You can even go zero carbs if you want.

Unfortunately there’s no way to test for fat adaption. It’s more the way you feel.

Do you have less hunger?
Do you have less cravings for carby food?
Do you have increased energy or more sustained levels of energy?
Do you have more endurance for physical activity?
Are you sleeping better?
Are your moods more even?
Are you mentally clearer?

These are some of the most common experiences of fat adaptation. There are others, and not everyone will experience them all. But most of us have a good improvement on any number of these.

The tired all the time makes think you’re not quite there yet. There are lots of people who say they never get the increased levels of energy, but not a lower level of energy.

It is a gradual process though, not an on/off switch, so it sounds like you’re at least very close.
