Interesting study on Metformin and how it works

Hat tip to Ted Naiman on Twitter.

Basically, you poop out more glucose when you take metformin. Ted theorized this might be why there are diarrhea and the like with many who take metformin.

Edit: Also, to the extent berberine works similarly to metformin, perhaps this is why I did not like berberine: I already have stable blood sugar, and berberine made me feel worse, possibly due to lower blood glucose. Sadly, I did not have a CGM to test this.

Dihydroberberine works even better, and without the joint pain and sometimes muscle loss metformin comes with. Can’t speak for everybody on this one but have never known anybody to have the toilet time from either form of Berberine that Metformin can cause.

I was all about Metformin for a while, mainly from all the anti-agers promoting it (which I consider myself to be one) but then my meathead sources (mainly podcasts) started addressing it since Metformin is big in bodybuilding as well and wasn’t a fan of what some of those studies showed. Dihydroberberine it’s been since!

Thanks, I had never heard of Dihydroberberine.

Why do you want to reduce blood sugar?
