Interesting...Keto everywhere

(Robert Hollinger) #1

Just an observation, i’m not surprised … it’s smart money even if the products may not always be “smart”

I just heard a commercial…quick weight loss centers have gone keto (they still offer their classic food plan and i’m sure they still require many of the same supplements)

BurgerFi is advertising a Keto-fi burger (bacon double cheeseburger + egg and mustard served green style)

Chipotle is offering a keto-salad bowl (only via the app though I’m sure you could order the same ingredients)

Slim-fast has keto-bars (yeah i don’t think i’ll touch those)

Definitely a “New Year, new you” thing.

I heard someone out of sight sneeze today, and a colleague said, “Ah, that’ll be the ketosis,” to them. Erm…

#3

:joy: Cheaper way to measure I guess…

Hopefully the underlying message of JERF (just eat real food) will be preserved amid all the marketing. We still need to read the ingredients of products we support to be sure it’s real food and not just more processed garbage.

(Robert Hollinger) #5

agreed. i’m all for a keto-friendly processed product in a pinch but it should be the exception…

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #6

Here’s how it usually goes for me

Person: Oh, you’re doing keto?

Me: I’m doing Atkins

Person: Oh (loses interest and leaves me alone)

ALso we need to be the ones that remind newbies to Eat Real Food and reject industrial processed junk.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #8

“I’ve been keto for three days, now, and I haven’t sneezed once! What am I doing wrong???”

(Carl Keller) #9

Agree with Eric. The best food is the food you make. There’s no surprises.

Try fasting.

I read an article about cooking classes in Qld and there was a comment from one cooking school that they had a sold out Keto class, for Feb. I’m kind of intrigued, but I think I’d go so I could be the heckler and I was more looking for a knife skills class - this being the first year I haven’t managed to cut myself (well, so far) with a Boxing Day sale knife purchase.

#11

I can sell you some exogenous pepper :sunglasses:

(Running from stupidity) #12

Well, serves us right for this idiotic “Keto Flu” stuff we have perpetrated, I guess.

:joy:

Given how much protein I eat I might well be

Over a week, can’t complain about that.

#13

Considering I’ve cut myself unwrapping, I think I’m awesome on the whole not requiring surgical glue front (note to self, lime leaves can be cut with scissors)

(Running from stupidity) #14

For ultimate irony points, were you unwrapping a KNIFE by any chance?

(Carl Keller) #15

I’ve actually done this. Cutting through the packaging with another knife trying to extricate the new knife out of packaging that didn’t want to let go of it.

(Running from stupidity) #16

It’s like they’re protecting family members, or something,

#17

It was that clam shell plastic was it :exploding_head:

(Carl Keller) #18

Definitely felt like conspiracy.

You got it. I now have a plastic phobia every time I try to open up something new…

(Running from stupidity) #19

As @Bondy said, scissors are your friend.

Not as much as the trend is, but still, on the spectrum.

#20

#twins - that is some unnecessarily brutal packaging :face_with_head_bandage:
