Interesting advice from my gastroenterologist

(Bill Bates) #1

Just got back from visiting with my gastroenterologist in preparation for my first colonoscopy. They sent me home with a list of “healthy” and foods to “stay away from”.

The healthy list included:

2 cups of fruit each day
3 ounces of whole grain foods/day (cereal, bread, pasta, etc.)
3 cups of low fat or fat free milk/day
Lean protein
Canola oil, sunflower oil
Margerine

In the stay away from list:
Sodium
Foods with saturated fat and cholesterol
Fatty meat (eat less meat in general)
Egg yokes

It’s interesting that in 2018 the Keys diet is still being pushed by the medical community.

As a side note, today my blood pressure was the lowest it has ever been…118/72. Before I stared Keto it was more like 140/80 and I had 2 docs telling me I needed to be on BP meds, which I refused.

I’ve been ketoish for 3+ years. Just had a colonoscopy. Doctor told me I was clear for 10 years till the next one. I’m 64. At my age the standard recommendation is every 5 years.

Very old school

This is what I used to get as medical advice for my colon cramps and pain in late 1970

I have not received such medical advice from any doctor for the last 10 years.
