Cool! It hasn’t improved mine, but I only use reading glasses, too.

maybe it takes time? or maybe tomorrow i will need the old script, blessings

I think mine has improved as well. I have been needing to wear my glasses less. I will know for sure next month when I go for my annual eye exam.

Carl talked about his vision improving on one of the podcasts, I think I read it has to do with the blood sugar making the blood thicker,so the body will pull water from anywhere it can, including the eyes to help thin the blood,I don’t wear glasses but I did notice it was getting harder to read very small print, thought I was just getting older, but now I can read small print again after only six months of keto, don’t quote me on this,I’m not a doctor but I do play one on TV,never take medical advice from a guy named Bacon

I am wondering about this too, might have to go and find some old glasses and see if they are better.

Hi Eschor. Am an optometrist. Firstly, are those specs prescribed or ready-mades? In the case of ready-mades don’t assume what’s written on the side is correct. If your near vision has appeared to improve, has your distance vision deteriorated at all? If the prescriptions are correct, the +2.50s should still appear clearest at close range, and the +1.50s clearest at arm’s length (computer distance). Have certainly encountered people having altered vision with tightened blood glucose control, however have never personally had anyone volunteer that they are even on a ketogenic diet! Had quick scout around the internet and conflicting reports of ketogenic diet improving and worsening vision. Would also depend on whether they were longsighted or shortsighted prior to their dietary intervention. Will be interested in the experiences of others members of the forum.

I don’t care what you say, I am taking medical advice from a guy named Bacon.

hey craig, thanks for the research, your questions are informed…my answers are not, i have a million reading glasses, assorted strengths, i bump up if i find myself squinting at print. previous experience says back to squinting if i return to old glasses…but not in this case, as far as i know, distance vision is excellent–oh wait had an opthamologist exam.,.so it’s true, distance vision is excellent and keep using reading glasses, oh and i did go back to the 250s and headaches/eye ache – at least for now, don’t know if that helps or adds any new info, blessings if this keto is having a positive effect…even if it isn’t ,…too many other blessings in keto, when i come across some 1.00s maybe i’ll try them. sorry just the idea is amusing,

Fantastic to hear that you’ve recently had your eyes tested. If you’re diabetic, they would have screened for retinopathy as well as assessed your vision and spec prescription. You report that your distance vision is excellent. Wonder if it has also recently improved, along with your near vision? If you’d seen the same ophthal previously, did they make comment about the changes? As you say, too many blessings in keto to look a gift horse in the mouth.

will see him again in june i think, he said improvements will probably continue on keto. (just remembered that he actually said that specifically)…this was in response to my statement that i made the appt bec i noticed a blurring in vision which went away when i began keto in july–saw him in sept. so, will be able to confirm improvements by summer. ain’t keto great? blessings abound.
