I think there was a thread recently that was a touchstone. Someone was seeking help because after a few weeks “it wasn’t working”. Many members tried to help him. His post style was abrasive and in retrospect probably not intentional. But clearly he offended people. Anyway, he knew more than long time members and told them it doesn’t work and I’m not taking your guidance. The tone of the thread grew pained as people genuinely tried to help and were shut down abrasively by him. I wholly avoided the thread.

I may steal this term! I absolutely love torties. But they do, ahem, have a reputation, which I believe they feel some pressure to uphold. Our clinic used to have a clinic cat who was a tortie, I have more pics of her on my phone than my own cats probably, she was hilarious. I can’t even begin to tell you the outpouring of grief from all of us, including our clients, when she passed away. She was such a character, the place was never the same without her.

And I am loving seeing everybody’s pets, of all species!

LOL I have met a lot of really wonderful torties (and the ones that aren’t, I totally recognize are just scared), but somehow it always gets said something like, “She’s a tortie, but she’s really friendly.” Or conversely, if not friendly, it’s just “Well, she’s a tortie.”

You know, I’ve heard some people say this about Siamese also, but I swear I’ve never met a Siamese that I’ve had difficulty with handling. Maybe I’ve just been lucky?
