If you don't have anything nice to say

(Doug) #183

Totally agree, Mic. **** them.

With the Samsung Note 9 just coming out, I figured the older models would take another step down in price. Hope so - I am watching the market. For now I still use a flip phone (my employer gives it to me for free).

(Running from stupidity) #184

They’re pretty awful in terms of pricing down here as well. I’m def on the ā€œcheap but goodā€ bandwagon.

Interesting. My kids tell me I have ADHD, and the nurses I worked with when I was the Maintenance Director at a rehab facility, my last full time gig before semi-retirement, said I was on the spectrum as well. It’s always worked well for me. I hyper-focus and excel at whatever is my passion at the time. I did well as a pilot, trades related tech stuff, scuba diver and firefighter. I believe, if you can harness it, it can be a good thing.

(TJ Borden) #186

Same here. I’m just old enough it wasn’t something they paid attention to when I was in school, and I’m glad because I had to work through it. I’ve struggled at a fed jobs before because of it, but I’ve also bad companies embrace it because they know if they give me an obscure task, especially something needing research, I hyper focus on it and OWN it.

(Nicole Silvia) #187

I personally haven’t experienced this and found this forum to be more ā€œnormalā€ than most.

Sorry that wasn’t your experience

(Carissa JB) #188

Everybunny gets a thread highjacked at least once in their lifešŸ˜‚ Gotta have a sense of humour in this crazy ol worldšŸ˜‡

(Running from stupidity) #189

Yeah, I have made it work at times, but it’s kinda severe, so it more often than not is a sabotage mechanism rather than an aid. #frustrating

(Omar) #190

I think the hijacking of the thread is the most civilized way to reply to the OP.

#191

All smart phones are spy phones.

#192

To get back on topic… I am pretty new to this forum and keto, and was surprised by the OP’s post, as my experience here has been quite different. So I went back and read a couple of threads the OP had started. My impression was that people put a lot of time and energy into being helpful, and the OP kept arguing with their advice, asking the same question over and over, and/or clearly refusing to take responsibility for simple tasks like googling for explanations of abbreviations (something newcomers to a topic often have to do). So it did appear to me that some people eventually became frustrated, but I could understand why, and did not think they were out of line. There was one person who did behave jerkily, but he was called out by a moderator and other forum members, and ended up apologizing.

When I ask people for assistance on forums such as these, I try to remember that responders are voluntarily giving me their time and expertise when they respond. So I attempt to be courteous, appreciative, and respectful of their time. I think if OP would keep this in mind s/he might have a different experience.

So in sum, as a fellow newcomer here I can’t say I agree with the OP’s take on this topic.

#193

@Sophie107 thank your for doing the research here. I still would hate to think anyone’s experience on this forum was bad, but I have to say I’ve noticed a considerable lack of interaction with the OP on this thread.

Constructive criticism or just likes to complain?

I guess we can only wait and let @Queenv answer that.

I have no idea what to say…so here’s a picture of a bunny with a pancake on its head:

Bunnies are awesome!! I vote the next hijack of this thread be everyone posting pics of their pet rabbits. A lot of people don’t realize what great pets they make, and they are great co-habitants for cats. (Never had one myself, but I’ve fostered for the House Rabbit Society.) Here’s my foster rabbit Newman being ā€œstalkedā€ by my cat Pablo.

(Doug) #197

Great names. :slightly_smiling_face: :sunglasses:

#198

LOL thank you! I can’t take credit for Newman, but Pablo was named after the Jonathan Richman song ā€œPablo Picassoā€. The one that goes ā€œPablo Picasso was never called an assholeā€ You know, because Pablo was a ladies’ man.

#199

I don’t have a bunny…but my cat loves his pet fish

#200

Pablo loved his pet fish too! (He passed away last December, sadly.) I should go do something else, I think I’ve off-topic’ed enough for one day.

#201

Awww…I’m so sorry. Adorable pic

I think there was a thread recently that was a touchstone. Someone was seeking help because after a few weeks ā€œit wasn’t workingā€. Many members tried to help him. His post style was abrasive and in retrospect probably not intentional. But clearly he offended people. Anyway, he knew more than long time members and told them it doesn’t work and I’m not taking your guidance. The tone of the thread grew pained as people genuinely tried to help and were shut down abrasively by him. I wholly avoided the thread. But it was entertaining to follow. It was the only instance I’ve seen on the forum ever that took a difficult tone. Social media is a shit storm of people, their issues, offense posts and inaccurate information from know it alls. Very little bullshit survives here.
