Let’s have some fun…
I cheated and had a huuuge ribeye dinner – didn’t even have room for the loaded baked potato. Will I have enough glycogen to make it through the night? Should I have my poptarts now?

You didn’t get near enough Carbs, you should have poured some HFCS on your plate to dip your ribeye in
Newbie here
I have been on this diet now for 3 weeks and I am fatter than when I started. And I feel awful. I am eating all the good stuff that is recommended (baked potato, loaf a day, half a gallon of raw oats, pile of spaghetti) and my guts are like a war zone.
Here’s my macros: carb 95%, protein 4.5%, fat 0.5%. Total daily calories 53… I just don’t get it. And I am hungry ALL the time.
I am doing everything right but I am not losing. Is there anything I am doing wrong? Help!!
@alec, I feel the same way. No matter how much I eat, I am hungry. I know it’s inconvenient, but if you wake up hungry at three in the morning, just head for the kitchen. 4 glasses of low fat milk and a ton of crackers works for me.
I must be doing something wrong - NOT LOSING!!!
When I did the old Weight Watchers where they limited the number of bread, fat, fruit and protein exchanges in a balanced way I was able to lose weight…
But now they went to a “point system” I can eat all my points as carbs as long as I go low-fat or fake fat-free on EVERYTHING.
Why am I so HUNGRY all the time!!! I’ve only lost 2 pounds in 3 months!!!
I am ready to give up - I am a failure!
I’m just here to nitpick about the thread title. The SAD diet is HFHC. If it were really low fat, no one would do it ad lib.
I know we’re supposed to get most of our calories from carbs but would it be wrong to put bacon and lettuce between two pieces of the bread and tomato that is recommended on this diet? I just can’t get myself to eat bread and fruit by itself!

No, no, no… this is leading you down a terrible path of eating meat… I mean, just the sound of it is awful, eating meat… yuk, yuk, yuk, how could you even think if such a thing… those poor pigs, I think of them often. You must just stick to the principles: eat carbs on the hour, every hour, limit protein to 5g a day, and remove fat altogether (it is a non-required nutrient you know, we can get all the nutrients we need from the seaweed and kale we eat!)
You are right… you are nitpicking. We all know what Katie meant
More responses please, I LOVE this thread. We gotta keep it up at the top of the charts.
Just remember… if you get too hungry and cave in then it’s all your fault for not having the willpower to put up with starving all the time!!!
I don’t know about that @Alecmcq not everyone has to be a devoted to carbs at the expense of other foods.
@ladylyssa , what I sometimes find is enough to curb my meat/fat craving is a take a small piece of bacon (low fat, dry fried), about an inch square, and I have this with a BIG glass of soda-the carbs help to balance out the fat, and as long as I can keep within my under 5g of protein, I put up with the slight increase in fat. If you have any kind of meat addiction though, you are better off going ‘cold turkey’…excuse the pun!
But if you can keep your intake under control then small treats like this, included as part of your plan can really help beat those cravings and help with compliance. Just be sure you are getting in loads of white bread, and eat every hour.
But I refer you to all the studies that show, quite clearly, that carbs on the hour every hour is a surefire way to lose weight: if we could just get a drip of HFCS into the bloodstream continuously, we would be losing weight at every moment, because we would be making sure our metabolism stays high. In fact, that’s such a good idea, I am going to the hospital right now to order them to give me a HFCS drip.
LMAO! Awesome topic. Too tired to think of anything ATM, but let’s keep it going.
I have been reading a lot of the posts on here, and I think I have the SAD flu. My symptoms are a huge distended belly, going to sleep 3 hours after every meal, and constant cravings for sugary treats. Per the standard SAD advice, I have been eating as much food as possible to make sure I am not lowering my metabolism: I am making sure it is sugar based, but I am not sure about the frosting on the cakes I am eating. Is frosting allowed on the SAD diet? It looks like fat to me…
The SAD diet allows a lot of fat but only when ingested with equal portions of carbs. Frosting is the best meal on SAD. It has sugar AND fat!
