I'd rather be fasting than

#1

For a little motivation, I was thinking about how as hard as fasting is, it is certainly not the worst thing a person could go through, especially for medical or health reasons.

So I’m interested in hearing what other people think about when they say to themselves, “I’d rather be fasting than…”

One of mine is, I’d rather be fasting than going through chemo. Any other thoughts?

So I can get those feel good rushes that happen when I fast

#3

I’d rather be fasting been dealing with type two diabetes.

#4

…learning to balance with missing toes.
…waiting for a kidney donor.
…being a burden on my family because I’ve gone blind.
…looking into the eyes of my grief-stricken daughter as I slip away, dead too young from a heart attack.

Too morbid? How about…

…having to find something to eat on the run and having to settle for something unhealthy or unsatisfying.

(Teresa Driver) #5

I’d rather be fasting than on dialysis.

#6

Not too morbid, just very real. I had some of those in mind too. It may be negative motivation, but it does keep the end in mind.

It’s interesting how we don’t value our health until we lose it. It also interesting how we sometimes don’t care that much about being ill until we regain health .

When I was very sick, I kind of thought I was normal. (Duhhh)

(Sheri Knauer) #8

I’d rather be fasting than become plagued with diseases that I think are just part of getting older

#9

I’d rather be fasting than waiting longer to lose weight, than waiting longer to feel lighter, better, healthier.

#10

Agreed, you don’t realize how bad you felt until you start feeling good.

(Carolyn Gephart Wilson) #11

I’d rather be fasting than worrying about eventual Alzheimer’s or age related dementia!

#12

I’d rather be fasting than having to do the dishes after cooking, or go grocery shopping

Less morbid, but true non the less :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

#13

…gaining weight!

#14

That is a nice perk! Less dishes and groceries to buy for me, cuz I still have the rest of the family, but nevertheless.

(Doug) #15

I’d rather be fasting than slowing, dragging my feet through the twilight of denial, chasing some carbohydrate dream while time passed me by.

(Mark Rhodes) #16

So my “I’d rather be fasting than doing the dishes” kinda pales in comparison, huh?

#17

Simple but true.

#18

Oo, great imagery! Wonderful word painting.

(Doug) #19

Thank you, Darcy. Ain’t got no dishes to do, so have more time for that sort of stuff. :sunglasses::ghost:
