I won an award!

(Jeanne Wagner) #1

Our local county chapter of the American Heart Association has chosen me as their pick for “Healthy for Good Lifestyle Award” winner. It’s a nomination competition, and one of my co-workers nominated me. You have to have made a significant lifestyle change for over a year that has benefitted you. I’ve been first low carb, then keto for 14-15 months now. Holy cow they chose me out of everyone who was nominated. I’m in shock.

They were particularly impressed that I reversed my type II diabetes this year. They’re going to tell my story (according to what she wrote in her nomination) in front of the crowd, and present me a certificate or an award of some sort.

I haven’t done any extended fasting for a couple months now and this has inspired me to do one leading up to this presentation. It’s Saturday morning, and I’m going to do a water fast to celebrate. I’ve just hit the 22 hr mark and feeling hunger but I’ll be taking a walk in a few minutes which will help. Exercise always helps me in the hunger area when I’m fasting. and of course I’m going to participate and do the 5k walk!!

KC+KO folks!!

That’s awesome, Jeanne! Congratulations!

Wow, an award, and from people who tend to be a bit hostile towards keto.

(Jeanne Wagner) #3

Right?!? Well, she did not use the word keto, and she mentioned I ate ‘lots’ of veggies. She still put across the idea that it was a significant life change and gained me great benefits. So I’ll take it. If they let me talk, you know I’ll be mentioning the lchf way of eating.

What? What? AHA! This is fantastic. Let us all know how the award ceremony goes. Kudos to your coworker as well.

Fabulous!

(Tony Battelle) #6

That’s really great, considering the fact that the AHA officially supports the low calorie diet and the 1950’s era food pyramid. Which we all know shroud be turned upside down. So, congratulations on becoming an ambassador for the keto lifestyle. It’s hard to argue with results!

Awesome. If they ask how you did it, say Lower carbs and lots of healthy fats. I know my dr. loves that line. LOL.

Doing a happy dance over here for you, great NSV. Well deserved too.

#8

That is really cool! I am very excited for you. It should be fun.

Here’s to your health!

That’s fabulous news Jeanine. I hope that helps to spread the word about reversing diabetes with healthy eating.

Why do I think somebody in the Heart Association is going to get their butt kicked lol

(Jeanne Wagner) #10

I will report back. And yes I thanked her very much and gave her a hug. She was thrilled I won.

(Jeanne Wagner) #11

I know. I was thinking uh oh, they don’t seem to support high fat diets, but heck maybe they’ll start to if they hear more and more stories about the success people are having with them.

(Jeanne Wagner) #12

I love the lots of healthy fats part of it. Well low carb too, of course! I feel terrible on high carbs.

(Jeanne Wagner) #13

LOL It could get interesting if they hand me the mic!

(Frank) #14

The snarky part of my personality would take this as an opportunity to rail against the aha guidelines in a public forum.

(netposer) #15

As soon as they find out you did it via LCHF/Keto they will find a way to “un pick” you.

(Raj Seth) #16

Yeah. Even though you may have a monopoly patent on buggy whips, your empire may crumble as Henry Ford brings his shit around!

(Jeanne Wagner) #17

lol

(Jeanne Wagner) #18

Oh yeah! I’ve never been one for PCness, so they better watch out!

(Jeanne Wagner) #19

Then I’ll be forced to make a public comment about how the industry is trying to hide the truth!

(Tony Battelle) #20

I hope they do hand you the mike. Better prepare something!
