I’ve been keto since March of 2018, so just over a year now. I made great progress - feeling good, losing weight (72 pounds), and inches. Just after Christmas, I stalled, and I hadn’t lost a pound in 2 1/2 months. I hadn’t gained anything either, which was good, and I still felt my clothes were getting looser, so although I was a bit discouraged, I didn’t feel like giving up.
I realized that although I had still been tracking my food and staying under my 20g carbs a day, a lot more sweeteners had crept into my diet. I was eating “keto friendly” cookies, muffins, and pancakes. All of them were made with coconut flour and almond flour, and all of them contained sweeteners.
So I decided to eliminate as many sweeteners as possible and see what happened. I noticed right away that I was ending the day more around the 12-15g carb mark instead of 20g, and I was getting stronger results on my ketostix. Today I weighed myself for the first time since I made the change and I’ve lost 1.5 pounds.
I know it’s just one week, so we’ll see if it continues, but this made me very happy, so I thought I’d share. I know that I’ve been reading a lot of posts on this forum over the last two months from people who are having the same experience.
