So I know I am still new to keto, but I think i slipped. I went back to my vice last night. I had a can of Cherry Coke zero. Then I had one for lunch today. after lunch I checked the urine strips, and no slight pink. Weight was still great this morning, Either I am not producing extra keytons, or im to skinny to be doing keto now.
I slipped
How long have you been eating Keto? If you have been eating this way long enough to become fat adapted you might not be showing EXCESS ketones on the test strips (someone please correct me if I have misunderstood this bit )
Everyone is different and some people can tolerate diet pop, some can’t. You just have to learn what works for you.
A small slip! It gets easier. You begin to forget about things that used to seem central to your life.
The best way to avoid slipping is to remove the obstacles that trip you.
Nothing is wrong with having a cherry coke zero while on keto. Some will have their bodies react to it, some wont, some don’t drink soda for their own reasons, and some will. I drink diet or coke zero and my body does just fine with it.
I drink an average of about two diet sodas a month – OK, sometimes 3 – and I’ve seen no problem except that I usually eat more carbs in the meal in which I am drinking the diet soda (favorite is Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper and Diet Barq’s Root Beer).
This doesn’t happen. I’m skinny and am always in ketosis. As long as I keep my carbs very low and my protein moderate my body HAS to burn fat for energy. If it’s burning fat then it’s making ketones as a byproduct. In my case I eat a lot of fat so that my body doesn’t have to burn my body fat, but it’s still burning the fat that I eat and so I still make LOADS of ketones.
What macros do you try for?
I’ve been doing better with my eating. Generally getting around 1.6-2.0 for ketones.
Trying to figure things out better because I like variety in my foods (and doing 2000 calories in 1 meal can be hard w/o fat bombs)
Don’t stress on the colors of the urine strips. I’ve heard they can be unpredictable!
I don’t measure or weigh. But I use fatty cuts of meat and I usually add additional cooked fat on top of that. I’m aiming for 75% to 80% fat.I’m pretty close to zero carbs at the moment, while I try an elimination diet.
