I really want to get drunk

(Elya) #64

Hello, I read your post I LOVE beer and used to be a beer drinker. I used to drink 2 every single night almost and it made me fat tired and I could tell my body was addicted to it. In my opinion you shouldn’t it sounds like it caused a problem for you.

Vodka Seltzer. Hasn’t kicked me out of Kitosis or a dirty martini… still in ketosis and down 30lbs. Will get you drunk lol

Great job, Jennie. You’re picking your spots, or not. :slightly_smiling_face: Your liver is smiling.

My opinion is a few drinks is okay for a buzz. Planned break is okay, but “wasted”? I hope you just mean buzzed, I do know many people can’t stop at a few drinks though and get wasted whether they want to or not.

I don’t like the idea of wasted, I have done that when I was in college and what not, but it’s a miserable feeling and bad things tend to happen. I was never proud of it the next day.

Your an adult though and I’m not your pappy. LoL. I’ve had lite beer(s) generally no more than 3 which gives me a buzz and then I go back to Keto. I don’t do it often maybe once or twice a year like for anniversary, birthday type deals. It kinda depends on what your health/weight loss goals are. My goals are more important to me, then getting wasted.

Drinking alcohol stops my weight loss. If you are in maintenance mode, you will probably get away with a blowout

Bingo! You’ve hit the lottery when your past progress is motivating you to continue!!! Congrats!

Well done Jennie.

I’m real proud of you.

Three cheers for your liver.

Liquor.

Alcohol is to the answer for anything.

(Running from stupidity) #75

Yes, it’s very clearly been an awesome force for good through history, agreed.

I’m glad that your progress keeps you motivated!

I like beer - craft beer in small quantities. I’m always curious how many calories people are consuming and how big their stomachs must be to be able to hold that much liquid. Is weight loss sped up when one stops drinking in those quantities? What a great benefit if so - and I’m sure a lot of other healing must happen.

I switched to vodka and water with a slice of lemon or lime. No more beer not even the low carb stuff. I know what it is to quit or ease up after 40 years of heavy beer drinking. Staying in keto and the effort to stay there is helping me to think about how much to drink. I am still going to have a drink but not beer.

Hi @Jennie_Greene! Some thoughts!

First off – I hope you feel better. That kind of drinking probably created a lot of brain fog, hangover, and general lethargy and if you’re 10 weeks into keto, you probably feel great!

Let me tell you, getting that drunk will make you absolutely CRAVE those carb-loaded, salty foods you ate on a SAD diet before, and if you’re like me – you’ll be much more likely to say f**k it and indulge. That is how my 6 months of Paleo/Whole30 came to a grinding halt.

First recommendation is harm reduction. The idea of never drinking again probably produces some anxiety for you, and so I recommend talking to a counselor about that if you’re ready for it. If you want to drink, think about it being something you enjoy the taste of and try just having just one (your tolerance will be way down).

Also, I don’t know if this is popular on this forum or if you live in a place where this is legal, but having a single drink and then supplementing with a little cannabis or even CBD oil drops is much better for you (and better for virtually all of your internal organs and system) and may help with that craving for booze.

Bottom line though, getting drunk will negatively affect your progress and motivation. Your body has to expend a lot of energy and time repairing the damage from one major binge. And after 10 weeks, your liver is probably regenerating quite a bit (watch Dr. Berg’s videos on fatty liver repair) and a heavy binge will hurt that progress.

Good luck and congrats on your work so far :).
