I ran into Carl at a tech event!
My experience is that you give the body guards bacon. And, a little for @carl never hurts either…Pretty easy…It’s more difficult to get past the hoards of press, and his posse…
@Kathi_Kellenberger…This was a nice photo, and appeared fine in Facebook. However, I’m not sure if it’s just the fact that it’s a PNG, or something else, but @matt pointed out that it didn’t display properly here in the forums. Just wanted you to be aware of the issue.
That does look like a herd of nerds behind you. I need to start attending conferences again…
It’s the MVP conference, so it’s a really nerdy group of nerds.
By the way, I’ve been bombarded by MVPs and Microsofties who have lost big weight and/or reversed diabetes. A handful told me I saved their life. It’s hard not to feel happy about that! I want to get a collection of these stories and present it to someone at Microsoft to support us.
@Scott had talked about doing a session on this topic at http://devupconf.org/ last fall, but I don’t believe it ever came together.
However, with @Kathi_Kellenberger, @Scott and others in the local community driving it, I bet we could get a good session for it this year…We have plenty of locals that could participate…
Did I mention yesterday that you helped me change careers in the 90s with your VB site? That is why I was willing to give Keto a try. You gave me good advice back then and I figured that this advice would be good, too!
I wasn’t even sure that Carl was at the conference until I ran into Richard Campbell (the other Richard). So, I just had to get past Richard this time. I have met Carl many years ago when he spoke to the VB user group in St. Louis back around 2000 or 2001.
I can totally see us filling a conference session of 200 attendees with a sessions entitled “I’m a developer…and I need to lose weight.”
On a semi-related note: For last year’s conference, I specifically told the chef that we absolutely needed BACON on every food station. If you remember, it was there. The chocolate covered bacon was a huge hit on the desert station.
