I have been doing Keto on and off for a year . I love it so much , but I’m having a hard time suceeding , because I can never pass the two month mark. Have anyone had these types of problems
I got out of keto for two weeks now I'm having a hard time starting over. I need motivational stories from people who have started over and succeeded
Been at it for almost a year now, it’s not hard to stick to if you ONLY have keto foods in your house. Then you’ll have no choice but to stick to it.
The hard part is if you have temptations at work like I do. They always have cookies, cakes and donuts for one reason or another. Every once in a while I’ll have a bite of something or maybe even a whole donut, but then I’m a good boy again right after
I think how I felt when I stopped explained enough for me to get right back on .
I can relate and wish you whatever it takes to get back on.
I am back on for 9 days.
I went off 3 months ago. I am a sugar and carb addict. I gained so much weight, breathing problems and sluggish, weight walk returned. The ‘next’ day was going to be ‘restart’ day.
I started reading the forums again, emptied my house of all carbs, bought several days worth of favorite keto food and locked myself in for three days.
Actually, someone from the forums responded to an old post and that brought me back here. Thanks, 2ketodudes and the many positive members of this community. For me the alternative is a slow, painful death.
We deserve to live healthy and happy!!![image|500x500]
What could taste better than I felt in this pic? (upload://uaErJodItcZ3cE3jRehewArjclZ.jpeg)
I was hard core for 8 months and lazy but solid for two years. I then had nine years of failed restarts and periods where I had zero f’s to give. I’m now in month nine of fairly hard core.
You got this. It’s really about putting down one day, then three, then a week, and then you’re back in the flow.
I started Keto in the beginning of April, went to Mother’s Day weekend and got off track. Stayed low carb until early September and it just wasn’t doing it for me! Went back to Keto early September and here we are now.
I don’t eat perfect, I probably eat pizza every couple weeks (tonight being one of those times), but it’s not because I’m craving it. It’s out of convenience. I’m almost to a place where I can pass on eating a meal, but the old me is still there saying “but this might be your only chance to eat in hours!”, so I eat the meal. Tonight we were at a festival and went to a pizza place. I was going to order a salad, but they only had iceberg lettuce (no no for my tummy!) so I ate a tiny bite of a garlic “bread bow” and a small piece of the giant NY style pizza my husband ordered, plus the cheese and pepperoni from my daughter’s slice. As I knew I would, I felt massively gross afterwards! Hopefully next time I’ll just pass. I almost did it this time because I honestly wasn’t very hungry, but my husband was already giving me a hard time about it, so I just ate the small slice.
Hey I’m with you!! I fell off hard recently and feel yucky. I’ve been trying lately but being lazy. I also find it so hard to get back into ketosis. Today will be the day? Let’s make it so! Do far I had eggs with butter, and my lunch will be coconut oil. Then steak for dinner and broccoli. Let’s get back into ketosis!
For me, I still love pizza (and live in an area where most pizza places are great). However, pizza causes me chest congestion, every time, the next day. Then I realize I can’t eat wheat, so I relegate myself to pizza maybe a few times per year. I’ve been low carb for almost 5 years, though, so it’s easier for me to ignore foods like that.
Yeah, I think that’s the difference this time! I don’t let one wrong meal or even one bad day (a couple weeks ago I had a play date with some little girls in my Sunday school class and ate pizza twice that day!) throw me off track. I just pick back up the next day and carry on.
I haven’t eaten anything since the pizza last night and will definitely eat something Keto when I do eat today! I chose to eat the food last night-it wasn’t a craving, it wasn’t a binge eat, it wasn’t anything out of my control, it was the choice to eat a small slice of pizza. I took one bite of that garlic bread bow last night and it was delicious! I had every intention of eating the whole little thing when I picked it up off the plate. But did I? Nope! That’s the big difference this time- I have complete control!!! That is huge!!! Today I will make the right choices. Because I have that complete control!
That’s great Ketodaisy!
I look forward to feeling that way again. Kinda let the carb creepies get ahold of me there for awhile.
So far have not lost my resolution for today!
Two weeks off is fine. But, it’s enough. Try eating some carbs on the Weekend and staying strict the rest of the Week.
You’ll continue to lose fat that way.
I started keto in April. I was down 30 pounds by August and so I looked better and was getting asked out on dates. I felt more confident so I was going out every weekend on dates in August so of course I cheated. My weight fluctuates a few pounds during this time. Come September i decided to hit keto hard again because I would like to lose more weight . Lost another 7 pounds in September . I know it’s difficult to get back but after the initial week or so hitting it hard it becomes easy again. Just have to remain committed and push yourself again.
I was strict keto from February. Lost 40lbs and didn’t slip up once. A sad family event happened in August and I completely folded. I ate anything and everything for a solid week. And then miraculously I stopped and went back at it. That is a miracle for me because any other time I would have stuffed myself for months or years.
It took me a full 4wks to get rid of the extra weight I gained. That knowledge will keep me at it. I like losing fairly regularly and I don’t want to go thro that long fallow period again. You can do it. Its just getting your head right and thinking about why you are keto. Good luck.
I also came to realise that carby stuff doesn’t taste as good as I remember and how much I love my keto food
I did my first trip this past weekend after being low carb since May. I was able to keep the trip low carb for most meals, but did partake of once slice of ice cream cake and sambuca, as well as a breakfast that included roasted potatoes and pancakes with syrup – and two glasses of prosecco as an anniversary celebration. So my first cheat went much better than expected.
One thing I noticed, is that the carbs and sugary stuff weren’t as great as I thought they would be. I had the carby stuff because at times it was hard to get enough keto to eat.
I realized that I’m not in a hurry to cheat again. I really don’t crave carbs like I thought I might. Perhaps I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m really more satisfied eating fat. My mind and body seem to be in synch with that. That was a big positive that I take away from my cheat experience.
Today is my first day getting back into my routine. I’m just going back to what I was doing before. I want to wait a few days to weigh myself, because I do have some water retention from the carbs. I feel that I have to win the mind game. Keeping motivated has been very key for me.
Advice for people starting over:
- Go back to the good habits you’ve developed during your journey. You know what to do. You know how to win. You have the ability to repeat your past successes.
- Don’t think that you are starting over. Sometimes beginnings imply there are big challenges to overcome. You’re now a keto veteran. Develop a mindset that you can jump back into the keto lifestyle and dominate.
- Don’t start over by getting on the scale right away. You might feel bad that you undid some of your hard work. Get back into keto for a week or two, then weigh yourself. Why beat yourself up? Live life like the cheat never happened. Having a short memory is good for not dwelling on past failures.
- And the biggest thing for me personally has been to tell myself, “I worked way too hard to give back all the progress I made. No way am I going back to my life pre-keto. I am in total control of my weight and health.”
Good luck.
So much great advice .thanks ! I’m now back on my Keto Journey. thanks all of you guys so much for your support.
