I Don't Wanna Be an Apple

(Athena) #1

As of yesterday I have lost 56 pounds and lots of inches. I started at 271lbs, and now I’m at 215lbs. So I had my daughter take pictures of me to compare to my “before” picture and I’m Really disappointed.

From what I see I don’t look like I’ve lots of weight. I do see my face has changed shape. And I know my butt is smaller because I’m now wearing a size 18 jeans. But my middle remains large-looking. I don’t like my shape; I’m an apple!

I was always heavy, but when I was younger, I used to have an hourglass figure, with a 10” difference between my bust, waist, and hips (so, something like 40-30-40). Now I have chicken-legs and big gut . Will I eventually get my former shape back?

We are our worst critics at all times.

Did your daughter say that she can see the difference or does she agree with you? Don’t give up you will loose it, it has a mind of it’s own when it comes off and of course it is never the way we would like it to.

How tall are you?

(Candy Lind) #3

POST THEM! Let US tell you how great you look. :star_struck:

And YES - one of the best things about keto is that it helps you get rid of visceral fat - the fat around your internal organs, the most dangerous fat there is. Keep plugging and you’ll get your hourglass back.

Candy is right. You’ll get back much of your shape and, you are already down to an 18! That’s another department in the Store!!

The biggest and most noticeable differences often come towards the end. When you’re obese, you’ve got fat stored everywhere, not only in your body cavity and under your skin, but even intramuscular as well. Just like well marbled meat. It just takes a while for it all to clear out. Nice thing is, that if you can lose a pound, you can just as easily lose 100 or more. It’s just a matter of time.

My son, who is 27, kind of agrees I’m smaller all over, but more so in the face and bottom

I’m a little over 5’3".

Though my butt is in another department, my top half is still in the plus size. I’ve never been two different sizes.

Thanks everyone for your replies and your support. Here are the pictures in question. The one with the black shirt is before Keto. I honestly don’t know how much I weighed. I may have gotten heavier than that at my heaviest weight. The purple shirt is yesterday.

You definitely look slimmer. However, hormones do play a big part, I think, in how and where we lose the weight, so you may/may not get the hourglass figure. This is a process, and you’re simply working through it; I think you’re going to be changing through it all. I’d keep taking pics monthly, quarterly, and I think you’ll be proud of what you see.

After I saw my wedding pictures in 2002 I realized that even though I knew I’d worn a size 20 dress, I was way larger than I’d thought. I went on Atkins & lost 60 pounds in 2003. I was elated! Then I looked in the mirror & saw I was still fat. That was a bit of a blow. I set my new goal to 180 (I’m 5’8”). I got to 180 & saw I was still fat!!! I’m not an apple but the same shape as before, just smaller (yes, losing bum & boobs in the process). I slowly went back up to 210 over the years.

But now I’ve been Keto 10 months & though I’m now at 170, not much further down from that 180 from years ago, and still not to goal of 140 or 150, I can see my shape starting to shift a bit. It’s super slow but my body is changing. So all that to say, you have done amazing so far and stick with it! It’s not linear & it’s a bit baffling at times but changes are happening you can’t even see. Meanwhile you look great & probably feel a lot better. KCKO!

Definitely look smaller all over. Keep up the great work. It comes off in reverse of how it went on, For me that’s top down. I need the most off my hips but it goes on there first and comes off there last. I think weight loss pattern must be genetic. I have lost 5 inches from the thinnest part of my waist, 3 from the fattest, and 1.5 from my exceedingly wide hips. I guess I was meant to birth 13 babies like my grandma. And interestingly enough those numbers change. Some days I have only lost an inch from the hips, body recomposition is mysterious. I’ve been fasting for 16 days and the last 7 have not lost a pound. Just kcko!

I can tell a difference too! Great Job!!! And aside from documenting with frequent pictures, you should take your measurements on a regular basis. You will lose inches but not equally overall. It will be in fits and starts in different areas, at least that is what’s happening to me. KCKO!

You look great!!! I can absolutely see the difference and see your waist getting smaller. Add a little walking and maybe some weight lifting, continue with your keto and I bet you will be very happy with your results. I wish I could same the same for myself. LOL!

I hate to say this but I have a similar problem. I started at 271 and I am down to 197 and I look EXACTLY the same. My shape is a disaster. With the exception of one or two people, no one can even tell that I have lost weight. I have two butts, one up top and one on the bottom and my stomach still hangs so far over my knees that I cannot see my feet. I’m still fat. After two C-sections, and years of moderate or ZERO exercise, my body seems to have just given up. I can tell that I am smaller…that’s good, but my shape is depressing. I guess I will have to depend on girdles and spanx the rest of my life. Amazing that I could lose this much weight and still look like a hot mess. The only thing I can do is focus on the positives which are better health, more energy, feeling good, and insulin under control. :grinning:

Yep the easy weight to shift was my behind. My gut is slowly going my fat apron is smaller. You have lost all over and it is obvious. You are at my start point and my gut was noticeably smaller at 170 lbs. Stay the course. You’ll see those curves.

Do you work out? You can change your apple shape with workouts. you look great!!! Getting that weight off is so good for your health.

(Mary) #15

I agree with Karen - you have lost weight all over. Take a look at your shoulders and upper arms. Big difference, eh? I reckon once you break through to onederland, you’ll have to replace your entire wardrobe…:grinning:

(Darlene Horsley) #16

You may not see the changes but I see big changes everywhere. KCKO

(Candy Lind) #17

Funny, I can’t recall when I HAVEN’T been two sizes! I’m always bigger on bottom than top - but I also carry a lot of “boobage” on a small chest and shoulders, so I struggle to find blouses with enough “cargo space.”

You DEFINITELY look slimmer! Your face is much prettier. I think people close to us (including ourselves) don’t see the difference because they’re “too close,” if you know what I mean. The longer the time between one visit and another, the more likely the visitor is to see the change.

KCKO! You’re doing great.

(Wenchie) #18

You look great and there are BIG changes. Well done you!

(Candy Lind) #19

OKAY, OUT WITH THE PICTURES. You obviously need a second (third, fourth) opinion, too.

Have you heard of the paper towel effect? The larger you are the less you notice the weight coming off, the slimmer you get the more each pound is noticeable. This article explains it well. Keep the faith!
