I don't know what else to do

(Sophie) #21

Maybe try the opposite? When you crave sugar, eat a dill pickle? Maybe it’s worth a shot.
When I was quitting smoking and I craved a cigarette, I’d go brush my teeth. It helped.

#22

OMAD works best for me too!

(CharleyD) #23

Yeah it’s a good off-label use of the pain toolkit items of distraction and behavioral reconditioning.

Reprogram that habit! And maybe you’ll come to enjoy pickles, salt and vinegar (or something similar) more than sweets.

#24

OMAD is the easiest way to lose weight. I lift 3x a week and I never go to the gym. I have a gym in my basement. Bunch of compound moves and the weight is just falling off. I also don’t eat a ton of food. Maybe 1900 calories a day. 75% fat 5% carbs and 20% protein. I found out you can’t go crazy in the gym when you’re eating omad and Keto. I don’t know about anyone else but I was always exhausted. I’m on a good run right now. I carb up Saturday at dinner and than all day Sunday. What works for me may not work for you. It’s all trial and error. My favorite snack when I’m craving sweets is a bowl of whipped cream (Cabot) drizzled with Hershey syrup. Not a lot of calories or carbs but it cures my sweet tooth.

This
Just by trial.
When the sugar cravings hit, hit back!
Try Pickle or pickle juice, salt rock, olives, fermented vege snack, radishes ( add salt ), celery etc
Even a piece of sugar free gum perhaps or 2

Agree w others about OMAD
My sugar cravings go way down
If the craving is there. The quick square of chocolate w 2 Tbsp of salted butter. Yummy. Oh, and I add a dash of salt

So, my point… salt helps :joy:
For me at least

Are you taking any supplements? Could be a deficiency that’s causing the cravings. Also you may be low in dopamine.

(jilliangordona) #27

Weird question, but is your tongue white? If it is, you may have candida, which feeds off sugar and makes kicking the habit that much harder

#28

Jilliangordona, my tongue has been white for a decade. I had systemic Candida for 6 years and only now are my levels “normal”. But the SIBO does it too.

#29

Lovethyself, I take a TON of supplements all from my ND. Like 30 pills a day.

#30

Justpeachy, that’s interesting !

CandyLindTX,

It’s not an exaggeration. I have to eat a very low FODMAP diet, very lengthy to explain so just Google it, so everything fermented is definitely off the table. I’m also allergic to all Dairy, coconut, almonds, peanuts, eggs, pork even, spinach, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, sunflower, etc. I have a hard time finding any kind of variation of a keto recipe, because it will either conflict with my allergies or with the sibo diet. Avocado is a prime example. That’s one of the few things I’m allowed to eat keto wise, and Allergy wise I’m fine, but it’s a big No-No because its high FODMAP. I’ve searched for hours on looking for some kind of safe fat bomb that I can make for myself with cocoa butter that will help me fight the sugar cravings, and I’ve not been able to find anything that doesn’t go against the three different diets that I have to be on. I appreciate the kind words though, just reading all these comments has definitely given me hope and a little bit of faith that eventually I’ll get there.

#32

THIS is really interesting!! I have been taking glutamine for years, and recently got off of it for a couple weeks. I will definitely get back on it! Thank you LeCheffre!!!

(Candy Lind) #33

But you’re defying one or more of those diets to eat sugar, correct?

Sweetie, it might behoove you to defy some other aspect of the diets besides sugar. Sorry to be so harsh, but conventional wisdom has done us all wrong, so I would be questioning what is really truth in what you’re being instructed to do, and try something other than sugar with which to rebel. It sounds like maybe you can’t be much worse off. You need to decide if you want to get well or keep listening to people who may not have your best interest at heart.

One more thought … Zero Carb might be an option that will work for you if you can eat more than one kind of protein.

#34

It’s true!!! I’ve often been told so many conflicting things where I’ve left to come up with my own program to try and comply with everything. I appreciate all constructive criticism

(Stephanie Sablich) #36

Oh sweets. You’ve had a tough road, my goodness. I am SO impressed with you and your resolve, especially when your body is fighting so hard against you. Kudos.

I have a friend who has spent years moving from addiction to addiction. His recovery strategy has been to move to a “more healthy” addiction. He literally started with heroin, moved to cocaine, then marijuana and cigarettes, then alcohol, then sugar. No joke, he says that sugar is his hardest thing to kick. You’re not pathetic; your body is working against you!

There are plenty of great tips here, and I hope you can find something that works for you. Keep trying, and keep coming back here for support. You’re a warrior!

#37

My addiction is bacon.

(Darlene Horsley) #38

This one totally worked for me!

#39

Your words brought me to tears ssablich. Thank you, friend.

(Miss E) #40

Have you heard of Diatomaceous Earth?

If you’ve had long term candida it may be worth a shot to further flush any remaining parasites from your system.

Also maybe think about what you want MOST versus what you want NOW. Sometimes this can help with the mental part of discipline on food choices.
