Any advice on helping him to be successful? I have my own year long experience, but him being his own person with his own likes and dislikes might be tricky. Thanks!
Husband going keto
I guess in your shoes Iād think back to what made me successful. Also Iād make sure to stock up on Keto friendly foods that heāll love. Make sure heās tracking his carbs. Make sure he increases salt intake to avoid or at least minimize Keto flu, etc.
Answer his questions if he asks but otherwise let him figure out what works for him.
My wife pretty much lets me do my own grocery shopping, cooking, and kitchen cleaning afterwards. Works out well for both of us.
Tell him not to let his wife keep picking the fattiest steak at dinner. He needs it more than she does.
My husband ate like me in the beginning, I made the same dinner for both of us and that way he didnāt worry about calculating. Now he knows what we can eat and I let him cook when he feels inspired
You can try to support him by eating his way for the first 2 weeks, to show him that it works Compromise, adjust meals accordingly, but tell him that there are some things you just canāt do and eat. I allow him some leverage, but I tell him to put his big boy pants on and stop being a baby if he goes too far
How is he picky? Ingredient-wise?
Thanks to all for your suggestions and support. I guess I have to take a little bit of a step back as I already told him he needs to start fasting lol. Just because I use IF doesnāt mean it is going to be his way of doing it. But I will help with making meals, counting carbs, having keto aide available, and answering any questions. Iāve lost 30 pounds. I went off my statin in January and just had cholesterol checked, and LDL was 183, it has been higher in the past, its heriditary, and my HDL was 94. I will take that. So my results should answer any questions I believe.
Yeah, I already thought of that. I thought when he starts I might also start cleaning up my eating a little, cut back on the keto treats etc.
For starters, just remove savory and sweet baked goods, candy, high-carb snackable foods, potatoes, rice, etcā¦itāll give him a nice introductions without overwhelming him too quickly.
My husband needed bread and still needs it-i made him keto-friendly bread in āsafeā portions even if iām not around, he now makes his own food, defrosts a bun and adjusts accordingly.
