Fat bombs? Do you have a recipe for ones that don’t melt out of the 'fridge? I made some lovely ones recently, cut them into nice squares and when I arrived at my destination they had turned into pudding. Mighty good pudding so is that what you mean?

I’m from New Orleans and having lived through the post-K years I second the grill suggestion. We have a gas stove, and gas didn’t go out, but we still grilled almost daily through Thanksgiving (including the turkey). Even when groceries did open far away, we could grill food and it seemed like it kept in the coolers for longer than uncooked food. Neighbors used our grill too, as their frozen food started to thaw. It makes for a good community gathering. I just know that stomach distress was not a big problem. However, anything that IS left in your fridge should be put in garbage bags in the fridge before the storm comes - it makes a very nasty job later a bit easier. Especially if you end up evacuating. I still also keep frozen bottles of water in my fridge from June through October (may be a bit of lingering PTSD?) and if a storm is approaching I fill baggies with water and stick them in the freezer’s empty spaces for even more ice availability. And, as others have suggested - peanut butter is your friend! I am so thinking of y’all and hope that all stay safe!

Canned coconut milk is filling and stays with you. All the canned meats and nuts should be good. 85%+ dark chocolate bars would be good to have on hand. Sugar free protein shake mixes to add to the coconut milk.

Good luck to all in the path way. We have serious snow storms out here, but you can always stash your food in the snow banks and fire up a grill for cooking.

Spam fritters - childhood deliciousness - but not at home.

Canning is easy. Buy an All American, and the Ball book of canning. Watch YouTube vids. Here’s mine on the boil lol
I know everything that has gone into my jars.

My batch of chili still bubbling in the jars. Bulked out with celery and a few black soy beans

I love luncheon meat! Love the saltiness lol

This thread turned out useful for me here in Typhoon Mangkhut’s path. Stocked up on eggs, canned fish. Plus I can always fast for a while if need be! But currently enjoying a gin and tonic while waiting out the storm. Hopefully flooding won’t be too bad in lower lying areas. Anyways, thanks for starting the thread! It’s good to think these things thru just in case.

Hope you and yours stay safe, your typhoon is reported as much bigger than what the USA is experiencing.

BTW one of my former favorite foods was pandesal. I discovered it while living in Australia, a baker near our home was Filipino and made it daily there. I very fond memories of those rolls.

Thanks! I’m in China so we didn’t get hit as bad as the Philippines. But it was still a Super Typhoon when it hit Hong Kong. Not sure about here… but A. LOT. OF. RAIN. We’ll see tomorrow how bad it gets. Thankfully it is moving faster than the one in the States so it doesn’t have time to cause as much flooding I hope.

Ah, I thought you were in the Islands. Glad you are out of the brunt of it.

I wish you safety!

Thanks! Things already getting cleaned up and back to normal where I am. Hoping those in worse affected areas are doing well!
