Hunger Signals: Made 5lbs wings... Only ate a few. What is happening@

#1

So… I think after a good 3 months I’m finally starting to get the whole “listen to your body” thing everybody keeps talking about.

Tonight I baked up 5lbs of wings, made 2 keto sauces for variety and was ready to feast. Past wing nights at the bar could easily get 3lbs down. Now… I must disclose that I ate 3 deviled eggs in the middle of the cook as I was getting ravenous… but to my surprise, once the wings were ready to taste… The level of satiety I felt from just 5 was overwhelming.
I was stuffed. And couldn’t believe the mountain of perfectly baked crispy wings I could barely look at without feeling a bit queasy.

So I’ve got about 4.5 lbs of wings as leftovers, but an optimistic outlook that maybe my hunger signaling is “normalizing”.

So let this be a shout out to all us newbies, seems like sticking with keto really does over time change your hunger in ways I can barely believe. Those wings have no business being in my fridge. Kcko!

I eat considerably less volume now too. I’m full very quickly.

Welcome to the world of effective leptin signalling. Just as you can trust your thirst signals, now you can trust your hunger signals. Like it’s always supposed to be

The first time it happened to me, I was still used to being hungry even when my belly was stuffed to bursting. I remember I had just gone completely keto, and I bought two salmon steaks to celebrate. I finished one, then took a bite of the second and suddenly realized I was done eating. But there was still food on my plate! It was so weird.

The stupid part is that it actually took me a minute or two to realize that I could just put the leftover salmon in the fridge for later, as opposed to eating it right then, lol!

Exactly! I’m used to eating seconds, thirds, or heck, just eat the whole dang pot. I rarely ever had leftovers to deal with. I could put the food down like I had a hollow leg.

Now, I eat one meal a day. It’s not planned, it’s just I’m not hungry. I sometimes find myself fixing breakfast, lunch or dinner, and then putting it in the fridge for later. That’s kind of annoying actually. I hate doing work for no reason. But I tell myself, I’m just “time shifting my meals”:sunglasses:

Hah! The wing update… They were snacked on as a side to poached eggs on spinach and smoked salmon for breakfast. Sauced them up for lunch with a quick cauliflower casserole and veggie platter … And that lunch did double duty yet again as a repeat for dinner.

The most annoying thing? Our meal planning for the week keeps getting bumped and there are so many great keto recipes I want to try! Butter chicken with keto naan was on deck for tonight but unfortunately those fresh thighs had to go in the freezer til post holidays! Not a bad problem to have eh!

I’m on keto almost 4 months. Now when I shop for meat the 1 pound rib eye or whole rotisserie chicken, which used to each be eaten in one sitting, has to be broken up into multiple meals.

Appetite shrunk!
