How to minimize or maximize ketone use in skeletal muscle?

I’ve heard metabolising ketones produces less oxidative stress than fatty acids. I’d like to self test if fueling muscle with ketones vs fatty acids leads to improved muscle performance, recovery or growth.

But how does one influence the fuel mix used by muscle? Is it as simple as maximizing blood ketone level? Does MCT oil or exongenous ketones have much impact on how muscle is fueled? I’ve read that as one becomes more fat adapted skeletal muscles increasingly rely on fatty acids sparing ketones for use by the brain. Would this mean some degree of cycling ketone levels is needed?

I’ve heard the same thing, but I think the reason the muscles adapt to burning fatty acids directly is not just leaving the ketones for the brain, but also because ketones must first be generated by the liver through ketogenesis, whereas burning fatty acids that are already circulating in the blood gives the muscles faster access to an energy source other than glucose instead of waiting on the liver.
