How often do you weigh in?

(Laurie) #41

My BMs aren’t that regular. Maybe that’s why I get lots of ups and downs.

I weigh daily. I used to weigh monthly, but it was too easy to blame the number on “daily fluctuation,” not enough sleep, or something I ate yesterday. . . . Instead of “Well you’ve been off the wagon for 6 weeks, what do you expect?” So one month I’m up a few pounds, then the next month a few more, and before you know it I’ve gained 20 pounds. If I weigh daily, at least I’m taking a daily interest in what’s going on, and can decide what (if anything) to do about it.

As has been said here, the choice depends on a number of personal factors.

Every evening before a shower before dinner. I don’t really care if it’s my lowest for the day, and it varies a lot, but I’m after a trend not a number.

I still check daily. I am more focused on the weekly trend but I want to know if what I am doing is working in the ways I expect.

We are on a truck 2 to 3 weeks at a time, and the 50 cent scales in the bathrooms are not accurate and of course one is fully clothed. In the army we weighed in battle dress pants, tennis shoes and a t shirt, and they took 8 pounds of the scale number. Today scales weigh in the 0.0 number, after not seeing my scale for 2 or 3 weeks, I don’t scale until I wake up at home, evacuate my bladder and weigh in my undies or without to get the most relevant picture. I guess if one wants to get technical have a colon cleaning before scaling.

Every day. Sometimes more than once. It helps me understand causes of weight gain and adjust accordingly.

Depends on whether I am maintaining, or actively trying to lose weight.

If I’m maintaining, maybe once a month, I don’t really think about it. If I am actively trying to lose weight nearly every morning. Because I want to see how my plan of attack is reacting with my body.

For example currently I’m experimenting with my plan is keeping sugar intake to less than 2 teaspoons per day. I want to see how that impacts me and if it will perhaps bust me out of a plateau to help me lose weight. So I weight every morning.

I record it weekly, on a Monday morning when I get out of bed.
I will weigh 2 or 3 times each week, without recording, just to see how I’m doing.

Curiously, it has shown me that I seem to lose very little during the week or even, put weight on. But, over the weekend, I can lose up to 5lb. I don’t panic now, when I see the scale static. I just KCKO.

If I felt my weight gone up I will not even look in the direction of the scale.

If I feel I lost weight I weigh my self every 5 minutes.

Neither… I weigh once a month and take measurements and pictures…

Both my husband and I have Fitbit bands, so I bought the Fitbit scale, It Bluetooths to your phone and automatically logs your weight. You can set a goal weight, and it tells you how many pounds you have lost. Both my husband and I weigh once in the mornings.

Been awhile
Prior to that , about 3 months😳
I just go by the way my cloths fit
And trying to increase in my strength at the gym

Results from the above last weight in
Lost 3-4lbs
More importantly gaining strength and a looser belt
Win-win-win😁

I try and weigh myself once a month, but lately it’s been more frequent. At the beginning I was driving myself crazy and focusing on just the numbers, so my cousin, who got me started on the Keto Train, took my scale and had it in the trunk of her car. We got together once a month to do measurements and then “Norman” would come out from the trunk. This time away from my scale obsession allowed me to focus on my NSVs and pay attention to my body signals.

Everyday! But I never feel any shame because of the numbers. I write the number down in a book. It lets me appreciate the trends. I’ve found in the past when I don’t do it daily, the weight creeps back up.

Once a month. Sometime after 2 weeks. I have a lot of cyclical fluctuations.I use my tape measure more often and I monitor the fit of my clothes. I’ve been on a plateau for more than a month, but in that time I’ve lost 3/4 to 1 inch off each measurement and have dropped down a size.
