How often do you readjust your macros?

(Ruthann) #1

Hopefully my weight will change (go down) so I wondered how often you should redo your macros? With every weight change? Every week? Once per month? Or only if you stall.

Thanks!

I would regularly reassess as your weight goes down…

When my body tells me I’m hungry I eat, when it tells me I’m full, I stop. When you loose lots of weight you need less, so again, your body will tell you when it’s full. No need to complicate it. I do track some stuff but that’s only recently because I’m in the gym hard and playing around with some stuff and want a record, but for fat loss? No need man. The exception I would say, is when your so new to this and literally don’t know the difference between what constitutes a carb, fat or protein, then… I guess ok but I’d like to think most do.

Didn’t really think about it until I stalled. Then I tweeked everything.

Depends
That’s a million dollar answer, right :joy:
Jk

Go by how I feel
Sometimes just Changing up eating windows

I go by what new/existing foods I try or do eat.
For example, most recently removed just about all dairy, lowered my protein

And dare I say UP’d my carbs on a KETO Forum😳
I did😄 ( still low NC ) of course.

I play alot around with my protein/fat ratio 75/20 25/70 45/50 but I always keep carbs less than 5%

When not driven by more important factors (ie. socal obligations, pleasure, convenience) I tend to be evidence based and change things as directed by results. My objective is to decrease my IR.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with letting my blood glucose dictate when and what I eat. If my morning BG > 80 then I don’t eat. If the meal increases my 2 hour postprandial glucose by more than 25 points then I will eliminate the culprit food. I aim to not spend anytime with my BG > 120. When that occurs, I fast until it gets below 65.

I weigh, test bodyfat and recalculate macros once per week.
