How much salt do I need for fasts that are longer than 24 hours?

Hi there,

I want to try and do extended fasts. However, I am a bit confused what I need to drink/take during the extended fasts. Is it about 2 table spoons of salt per day?

The second question is how to not fall for the hunger when you need to cook for your kids?

Best regards,
Danielle

I can’t comment on the salt amount, but someone will know.

I do want to say the first time I cooked fasted it was WEIRD but it didn’t make me hungry. Now I do it all the time & it doesn’t phase me at all so I hope it’s that easy for you, too. When my husband is eating I sit at the table with him to chat & drink herbal tea.

I keep my intake somewhere in the 5g ranges daily, fasting or not. Once your in fast mode the food shouldn’t bother you, you just won’t be hungry. My wife usually only does 3 days, when I was fasting I usually did 5-7 so for the rest of it I was still making meals for her and my son daily, no issues. You can like it, it may smell good but the control is there.

Thanks for your replies! I just finished a 45 hours fast! I stopped just because of our traditional easter lunch/dinner. It was much easier than I thought! I would even say it was easier and more pleasant to not eat than eat.

I barely had any salt. It was fine with coffee, tea and water.
