Maybe a dumb question, but I am being told 1000 things.
Do I really need to be eating so much fat, if my body is using stored fat? like yes moderate protein, low/no carbs but I rather my body use its stored fat?
How much fat?
It’s easy:
Keep carbs below 20g
Eat enough protein
Eat fat until full.
If you are not full, eat fatty foods. If you are full, don’t!
There is a ton of confusing info out there.
The 2 Keto Dudes putting something together, comprehensive but not overwhelming:
Which it will do, ONCE YOU’RE FAT-ADAPTED. Until then, you have to train it to use fat. So the answer is - depends where you’re at.
@juice Just tested while having not eaton in several hours and my meter says 1.0. Would that be fat adapted?
They’re unrelated basically. For me, I knew I was fat-adapted once skipping meals was a complete non-event. Took about 6-7 weeks. But it does vary wildly across people.
@juice so once you believe you are fat adapted did you eat less fat or same macros just less food in general?
(Warning - this is going to sound like I’m prevaricating.)
TBH, the only macro I obsess about, really, is carbs. Under 20g.
I find I can’t eat enough calories in one meal (I keep an eye on this to make sure I’m not getting too low which drops the metabolism level), so OMAD isn’t a good option for me currently, so I make sure I eat two meals (which I track).
I make sure I’m eating plenty of meat (steak! bacon! salami!), so I’m pretty good across the other macros in general.
